20 Make & Freeze Meals… 350 Calories or Less!

My husband and I are trying to make better food choices, but we work late and often resort to takeout. I'd like to keep some healthy homemade meals in the freezer, so all we have to do is reheat them. Do you have any recipes that would be good for this?

Way to “get in front of it,” as I like to say! Some dishes freeze & reheat better than others, and I’ve got a terrific roundup below for your make-ahead pleasure. Add a side salad, and you’re good to go! But before that, here’s a little guide to DIY freezer meals…

To Freeze - First things first: Divvy up the food into equal servings, using containers that are freezer safe and microwave friendly. (Choose containers a little larger than the food itself, since it expands when it freezes.) Next, let it cool completely, so the food already in your freezer doesn’t start to thaw from the heat, and seal it up. HG tip: Label containers with the date and the contents!

To Reheat - If possible, thaw your food in the fridge overnight. This way, all you’ll have to do is remove or vent the lid, and microwave for a few minutes! If you didn’t thaw the food in advance, no worries: Just remove/vent the lid, and use the defrost setting on your microwave, checking and stirring it every minute or two.
