Hi HG,

You recently wrote about two brand-new fast-food items: the meal-sized McWraps at McDonald's and the flatbread sandwiches at Wendy's. You suggested special ordering to bring down the calorie and fat counts. Any updates on how exactly to customize them and what the stats would be?

Wrapped-Up Renee

Hi Renee,

Yes! When those items were first featured in our News, the detailed nutritional info needed for customizing wasn't yet available. Well, now it is, and I've got specific suggestions and stats!

McDonald's Premium Grilled Chicken McWraps...

Chicken & Bacon - Always go for "grilled" at Mickey D's, not "crispy"! As is, this thing has 440 calories and 16g fat (PointsPlus® value 11*). The creamy garlic sauce is surprisingly guilt-free, with only 10 calories and 1g fat. So just ditch the cheese and you're down to 390 calories and 12g fat (PointsPlus® value 10*). Not bad!

Chicken & Ranch - Without any tweaks, this has 430 calories and 16g fat (PointsPlus® value 11*). Skip the buttermilk ranch sauce (there's still seasoned rice vinegar for flavor) and your wrap is down to 390 calories and 12g fat (PointsPlus® value 10*). If you want to keep the ranch, skip the cheese instead -- then your wrap will have 370 calories and 11g fat (PointsPlus® value 10*). Want to keep things super slim and simple? Forget the sauce AND the cheese, and you'll whittle down that wrap to 340 calories and 8g fat (PointsPlus® value 9*). Pretty impressive for a veggie-packed chicken wrap on the go!

Sweet Chili Chicken - This one's pretty decent right off the bat, with 360 calories and 9g fat (PointsPlus® value 9*). The sweet chili sauce contributes 20 fat-free calories, and that creamy garlic sauce has 10 calories and 1g fat. You could order this one as is!

Wendy's Flatbread Grilled Chicken Sandwiches...

Smoky Honey Mustard - This new flatbread sandwich has 370 calories and 15g fat (PointsPlus® value 10*). The namesake honey mustard sauce contributes a whopping 100 calories and 8g fat! Request it on the side, and use sparingly. Or skip it altogether, and your sandwich will have just 270 calories and 7g fat (PointsPlus® value 7*). Nice!

Asiago Ranch - The stats here are pretty high: 530 calories and 30g fat (PointsPlus® value 14*). That ranch sauce is responsible for over a hundred calories and around a dozen fat grams. Crazy! You could ask for light ranch on the side, which has 50 calories and 4.5g fat per packet. (A drizzle is all you need.) Or just skip the ranch. You'll still have cheese and THREE strips of bacon, and you'll be down to 420 calories and 19g fat (PointsPlus® value 11*). If you ditch the cheese as well, you're at 360 calories and 14g fat (PointsPlus® value 9*).

There you go! Now you're ready to hit the drive-thru, armed with guilt-free know-how. For more fast-food tips and tricks, check out this Big Fast-Food Survival Guide!

Dear HG,

I need to watch my sugar. What are some of your favorite sugar-free or no-sugar-added product finds that are all-natural?

Hold-the-Sugar Hannah

Hi Hannah,

Thanks for your Q! It can be tough to find foods that are low in sugar AND all-natural, but here are more than a few GREAT-TASTING picks...

Enlightened The Good-For-You Ice Cream - These bars are ridiculously good, and each one has only 70 calories, 2g fat, and 3g sugars (PointsPlus® value 2*). They come in Orange Cream, Coffee, and Fudge, and they're packed with protein and fiber. What's not to love? Click to find!

FitNutz Sugar Free Regular Peanut Butter Mix - While peanut butter generally isn't crazy high in sugar, it is pretty calorie and fat dense. This pick, however, is free of sugar AND low in calories and fat! A 1-tbsp. serving has 25 calories and 0.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 1*). Just mix with a little water to make peanut butter, or add the powder to oatmeal, shakes, and more!

Bai5 Beverages - Fruity drinks are often full of sugar and calories, but these bottled beauties are low in both. They taste AMAZING, and the flavors are incredible: mango, pear, peach, clementine, and more. Each 8-oz. serving has just 5 calories and 1g sugars. TRY THEM!

Blue Sky Zero Calorie Stevia Soda - Soda is another sugar-fest. And, unfortunately, many natural sugar-free sodas don't taste great. Luckily, this line is seriously impressive... especially the Cherry Vanilla Creme and Creamy Root Beer! Each can is calorie-free.

So Delicious Dairy Free No Sugar Added Coconut Milk Frozen Desserts - Yup, the SD peeps have coconutty desserts! These rich 'n creamy treats are high in fiber (10g a serving!) and low in sugar. They come in great flavors like Butter Pecan, Chocolate, and Toasted Almond Chip. A 1/2-cup serving has 100 - 140 calories, 8 - 13g fat, and 1g sugars (PointsPlus® value 3 - 4*). YUM!

Quest Protein Bars, All Natural Line - These chewy bars are ridiculous. I'm OBSESSED. They're fantastic in the fiber and protein departments, and each bar has 3g of sugar or less. Insane! There are six flavors in the all-natural line, including Chocolate Peanut Butter and Cinnamon Roll. Each bar in this line has 160 - 170 calories and 5 - 6g fat (PointsPlus® value 4 - 5*). SCORE!

That oughta keep your sweet tooth satisfied for a while! Naturally...
