I eat healthy meals throughout the day, but snack time is another story. I always end up feeling unsatisfied and/or blowing my calorie budget. Please be my snack savior!

I’ve got your back! Try these smart snacking strategies when those cravings kick in…

Make Fruit & Veggies Fun

Eating plain fruit and veggies can get a little boring, but they’re some of the healthiest and most filling snacks around. That’s why I think it’s all about pairing them with interesting dips! For fruit, check out Delighted by Dessert Hummus. It sounds a little odd, but it tastes fantastic! For veggies, try fun salsas (like fruity ones or black bean & corn), Lantana Hummus (LOVE the unexpected flavors), and the yummy yogurt dressings made by Bolthouse Farms (the Salsa Ranch is SO good!). And if you’ve got some extra time, STUFF your produce with tasty fillings...

Power Up with Protein

A protein-packed snack will keep you feeling full until your next healthy meal. One of my go-to's is protein-packed snacks is hard-boiled egg whites. I love them stuffed with hummus, salsa, and other savory fillings. I’m also a big fan of jerky, and my favorite kind is made by Simply Snackin’. Other high-protein snacks: light string cheese, single-serve tuna packs, and fat-free Greek yogurt. Here’s a great little tip: Add protein powder to your baked goods!

Be Single-Serving Savvy

Don’t find yourself at the bottom of a multi-serving bag. Take control of snack sizes by making your own single-serve bags of chips, nuts, and more. Or spring for pre-portioned 100-calorie packs. The work’s already done for you!

Stay Hydrated

That hunger alarm is going off in your head… but your body might just need a glass of water. Chug a glass of H2O and wait 5 - 10 minutes. If you’re still hungry, see above for what to eat! For a fun ‘n fruity hydration treat, try flavored sparkling water or fruit-infused water.

Keep (Healthy) Snacks on Hand

This tip is KEY. Always have good-for-you treats within arm’s reach. I carry “emergency” snacks with me wherever I go. They help me avoid making poor food choices between meals. Stash those single-serve snack packs in your purse or desk... Perfect for afternoon slumps!
