Soup time! Hope you're ready for all our best soup recommendations, because here they come, like a tidal wave of chowder...

  Top Five Product Picks

Amy's Organic Chunky Tomato Bisque
1 cup: 130 calories, 3.5g fat, 680mg sodium, 21g carbs, 3g fiber, 14g sugars, 3g protein -- PointsPlus® value 3*

All-time top-of-the-list soup pick. Not only is it spectacular on its own, but it's also terrific with add-ins like seafood, soy crumbles, and broccoli cole slaw. It even works well as a sauce and a recipe ingredient, like in this Veggie-Loaded Spaghetti Amore and this Twice-Baked Spaghetti Squash. Pssst... Watching your salt intake? There's a Light in Sodium version!

Progresso Light Soups

1 cup: 60 - 100 calories, 0 - 3g fat, 460 - 690mg sodium, 10 - 18g carbs, 1 - 6g fiber, 1 - 5g sugars, 2 - 7g protein -- PointsPlus® value 1 - 2

To be fair, we also ADORE many soups from Progresso's High Fiber line, as well as some in the regular lineup that happen to have reasonable stats (wink, wink, Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle). But you don't have all day to read about how much we love Progresso, so this is us keeping it simple. The Light lineup is cram-packed with everything from Zesty! Santa Fe Style Chicken to Creamy Potato with Bacon & Cheese. YESSSSS...

Tabatchnick Soup Singles

1 bowl: 90 - 330 calories, 0.5 - 7g fat, 530 - 720mg sodium, 16 - 53g carbs, <1 - 20g fiber, 1 - 14g sugars, 3 - 19g protein -- PointsPlus® value 2 - 8*

The range is wide on the above nutritional info. The way we see it, there are different soups in this lineup that meet different needs! Want something light and simple as a snack or meal starter? Grab a bowl of Barley & Mushroom or New York Style Chicken Broth with Noodles & Vegetables. Need a hearty main dish? Southwest Bean or Vegetarian Chili should fill you up -- both are LOADED with protein.

Mishima All Natural Miso Soups, Edamame Soup, and Hot & Sour Soup

1 packet: 20 - 50 calories, 0 - 1g fat, 320 - 820mg sodium, 4 - 7g carbs, 0 - <1g fiber, 0 - 5g sugars, 1 - 3g protein -- PointsPlus® value 1*

It's been a while since we raved about these pouches of just-add-water soup mixes from Mishima, but that doesn't mean we love them any less. So convenient, so full of flavor, so INSTANT! Look for these in the soup aisle or the Asian-food aisle at the grocery store, or order some online.

Healthy Choice Microwavable Bowls

1 cup: 90 - 160 calories, 0 - 2g fat, 390 - 480mg sodium, 11 - 30g carbs, 1 - 5g fiber, <1 - 11g sugars, 2 - 9g protein -- PointsPlus® value 2 - 3*

Here's one more knockout soup line, this one in nukeable containers. There's a flavor for everyone -- Beef Pot Roast, Thai Style Chicken with Brown Rice, Tomato Basil, and many more. And the stats are pretty incredible -- the entire line is low in fat, and the sodium count maxes out at 480mg. Our only complaint with bowls like these? We wish the stats listed were for the entire container, not just a cup. (Who microwaves a container of soup with two servings and doesn't eat it all?!)
