Kellogg's Frosted Flakes with Fiber, Less Sugar - The product name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue... but who wants cereal rolling off their tongue anyway? We want it in our mouths, full of fiber, and not too high in calories. This is exactly why we're stoked about Tony's recently reformulated cereal, which has 25 percent less sugar than the original as well as three times as much fiber! A 3/4-cup serving has 110 calories, 0g fat, 160mg sodium, 26g carbs, 3g fiber, 8g sugars, and 2g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). Now that's GR-R-REAT!

Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Sandwich Bread - Stop everything right now. (Except breathing and reading.) People, these bread items look like ADORABLE, SMILING GOLDFISH. Currently in select markets and available everywhere by this summer, this bread product is ready to make lunch happier. It's basically a super-cute version of the beloved flat sandwich buns that all the companies make. In Soft White and Soft 100% Whole Wheat, each serving ("1 slice," which is really 2 adjoining pieces) has 120 calories, 2g fat, 170mg sodium, 19 - 20g carbs, 3g fiber, 4g sugars, and 3 - 4g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*), which makes us smile too!

New Flavors! Quaker Quakes Rice Snacks - If you're looking to kick up your savory snacking, look no further. Quakes are getting a little schmancy with the addition of Rosemary & Toasted Garlic and Sweet Chili to the flavor lineup. A serving of 16 - 18 pieces/mini cakes in these new varieties has 130 calories, 4.5g fat, 230 - 410mg sodium, 21 - 22g carbs, 1g fiber, 1g sugars, and 2g protein (PointsPlus® value 4*). Can't wait to chew 'em!

Guilt-Free News from the Restaurant World!

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse - This chain has ventured into the 575-calories-or-less arena with its new Enlightened Entrees and Cocktails. (Thankfully, the drinks have far less than 575 calories -- each sipper has under 130!) We're pretty excited about the Chicken A La Fresca, which pairs ratatouille-like veggies and balsamic-dressed arugula with the chicken (which we can only assume is not marinated in actual Fresca soda).

California Pizza Kitchen - CPK is taking the better-for-you route with its new summer menu, featuring full-sized salads with less than 600 calories, gluten-free pizza crust, and more, hitting kitchens June 29th. Plus, sodium and calorie counts have reportedly been reduced across the board. YAY!

IHOP - The famous pancake house is heading in a different direction... into the freezer aisle! The IHOP at Home line includes French Toast Stuffed Pastries, Griddle n' Sausage Wraps, and Omelet Crispers. Stats range from 160 to 240 calories and 6 to 14 grams of fat per serving. Sure beats the ginormous and fatty omelettes and stuffed French toast at the actual restaurants! For now, seek out these items at Walmart Supercenters... Coming soon to more stores!

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed: Spoon Edition!

"Hungry Girl, how interesting can SPOONS really be?" Here's your answer...

"Will You Measure Me?" Ring Spoons - For the kitchen lacking a bling factor, there's this fun set of measuring spoons that look like big engagement rings. The only danger? Spending less time cooking and too much time dancing around the kitchen and singing, "If you liked it then you shoulda put a spoon on it..."

Odd-Sized Measuring Spoons - Ever tried shrinking down a recipe for a smaller crowd only to be left with wacky measurements? Sick of attempting to approximate 1/8th of a teaspoon using your 1/4-teaspoon measuring utensil? This set is here to save the day... and the recipe!

Finger Food Reusable Finger Spoons - Whoever said it's wrong to play with your food never had access to a set of these. Slide one of the colorful li'l spoons right over your finger -- perfect if you like to take a lot of small tastes while you cook (um, which we do) or if you just want a more fun way to eat your yogurt. Cute!

The Buzz...

Ever wondered how much fat George Foreman's countertop grills can actually "knock out"? In a recent independent test, cooking a 1/4-pound patty of 80/20 chuck beef on a George Foreman Grill removed up to 42 percent of the fat -- about 89 calories per burger. Well done! You might want to begin with leaner burger patties, though, as the burger still had 13 grams of fat... ***When we hear promising results of a chocolate-related study conducted in part by the Hershey Center for Health and Nutrition, we're always one part excited and one part skeptical. This time, the findings suggest that the polyphenols in cocoa could actually aid in weight management. Interesting stuff, but this does NOT mean that Hershey's bars are now diet food. (Sorry.) ***Get this: Candy makers in Bulgaria have invented something called Deo, a.k.a. perfume candy! The low-calorie, sugar-free candy is said to "transmit an attractive rose fragrance through the skin." Ummm... WHAT?! ***Bad news for the multitaskers of the world (for example, the entire HG staff): Trying to do too many things at once could lower your self-control. Results of a new study suggest that avoiding bad-for-you foods and sticking to your exercise plan may slide by the wayside if you're perpetually juggling 18 tasks at once. (This info kinda bums us out, by the way.) ***Now, some good news to round out today's Buzz: Another episode of Hungry Girl airs this Sunday on Food Network! Tune in at 10am/9c for "Fill 'Er Up!"... all about HUGE and SATISFYING foods! And that's all we've got. HG out!

Today, May 16th, is National Coquilles St. Jacques Day, celebrating something we've learned is a fancy French scallop dish. (Thanks, Internet!) Maybe one year, we'll actually make over this dish. This is not that year. For fancy seafood, try our Baked Clam Halfsies!
