One in Five Americans Will Order Takeout or Delivery Tonight -- Will You Be One of Them?

According to the National Restaurant Association, 20 percent of recently polled Americans are planning to order food via takeout or delivery on Halloween, a.k.a. TODAY. Considering the fact that restaurant food can be a bit hefty in the stats department, we'd like to offer up some tips & tricks! First of all, consider grabbing something smart and speedy to make from the supermarket. If Chinese food is your weakness, we've got something to strengthen your willpower. P.F. Chang's has added noodled-up entrées to its line of Home Menu Meals for 2; the new dishes have a reasonable 350 - 410 calories and 8 - 13g fat per serving -- we suggest bulking 'em up with some extra frozen veggies. And the frozen meals we mentioned above in "Spotted on Shelves..." are great for a Mexican, Italian, or comfort-food fix. Set on takeout or delivery? No worries! Click here for everything you need to know about ordering guilt-free pizza, and click here for HG's guide to Chinese food. Hooray for options!

Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker by
- OK, so the name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. However, this handy app will allow you to log the foods you eat by voice OR by scanning the barcode of the product (SO COOL). And for each food, there's a "nutrition grade" as well as pros and cons. Plus, the app is cost-free. Weeee!

Get Running - New to the world of running, but wanna give it a shot? Let this app guide you through it. The program eases you into running, letting you go at your own pace and prompting you when to warm up, walk, run, and cool down -- you can even listen to music on your device at the same time! The only thing you have to do is, well, the running.

GoodFoodNearYou - In need of food, fast? Don't cave to the first burger joint you see! This food-seeking program will find sensible dining options near you, wherever you are -- it even scans hit-or-miss menus to help you find the best picks. NICE! Bonus? This app's completely free.

The Buzz...

HEADS UP, iCarly fans (and parents of iCarly fans)! Miranda Cosgrove (a.k.a. Carly herself) will be making a guest appearance THIS Sunday (11/6) on a new episode of Hungry Girl on Food Network... "Crispy, Crunchy!" Lisa and Miranda will be whipping up GUILT-FREE SPAGHETTI TACOS and having tons of fun in the kitchen. Yee-haa!!! Watch the preview now, set your DVRs, and tell your kiddos! ***Remember when the Macaroni Grill menu took a turn for the healthy a couple of years ago? Well, the restaurant chain appears to be backsliding. The Spaghetti Bolognese once had 1,120 calories but was trimmed to 570; now, an order of Spaghetti with Bolognese sauce has 770 calories. Several scary new menu items have emerged too -- an order of Spicy Herb-Roasted Mussels has 1,240 calories! Mussels are usually a safe pick. ACK! ***Don't look down on the noble can -- canned foods can (ha-ha) be as nutritious as their frozen or fresh counterparts. However, a survey on behalf of the Canned Food Alliance showed that nearly 40 percent of consumers believe they are less nutritious than frozen options; the number went up to about 60 percent when compared with fresh foods. No need to hate on cans, man! ***Oooh, Trop50 -- watch your back. COPYCAT ALERT! Minute Maid now has a Pure Squeezed Light Orange Juice Beverage, which has half the sugar of its regular juices and clocks in at 50 calories per cup. The OJ drink joins a pretty impressive lineup of reduced-calorie sips. It does contain sucralose, though, so Trop50 still has that naturally sweetened edge... And that's all we've got. HG out!
