Limited Edition Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Real Jalapeño
- It's finally on store shelves! We fell hard for this limited-time zesty condiment when it made its online-only debut in November. And now you can snag a bottle at select retailers (including some Walmart and Target locations). Each 1-tbsp. serving has 20 calories, 0g fat, 160mg sodium, 5g carbs, 0g fiber, 4g sugars, and 0g protein (PointsPlus® value 1*). It's one of the easiest ways to spice up your New Year!

Special K Berry Streusel Pastry Crisps - Hooray! A new flavor of the K's light and crispy dessert-like snack is hitting supermarkets everywhere. Berry goodness inside, sweet drizzle outside -- it's like a slimmed-down fruity Pop-Tart! Chain Restaurants and Cafés Lighten Up for 2013!

Listen up! Some of the most popular chains are serving up incredible new guilt-free menu items. Over at Applebee's, there are two new entrées on the Under 550 Calories menu -- Napa Chicken & Portobellos (450 calories, 12g fat, and a PointsPlus® value of 11*) and Zesty Roma Chicken & Shrimp (410 calories, 11g fat, and a PointsPlus® value of 10*). Plus, the 'Bees has made an addition to its Weight Watchers menu -- Lemon Parmesan Shrimp (510 calories, 15g fat, and a PointsPlus® value of 13). Um, yum! At Starbucks, the Perfect Oatmeal has managed to get even MORE perfect -- renamed the Classic Oatmeal, it now features a blend of rolled oats and steel-cut oats! There's also a brand-new oatmeal option: Hearty Blueberry Oatmeal. Like the Classic, you can customize it with the exact amount of add-ins you want -- fresh blueberries, agave sweetener, and a mix of dried figs, dried cranberries, pepitas, and almonds. With all of the berries and fruit-nut mix (but without the 40 calories' worth of sweetener), it clocks in at 240 calories and 5.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 6*). Just sweeten to taste! Last but not least, Panera Bread has introduced a Spinach Power Salad and a Fat-Free Superfruit Power Smoothie with Ginseng. The salad features ingredients like roasted veggies, bacon, and a smoky-sweet onion vinaigrette -- skip the crispy onion topping (it packs in over 200 calories and 13g fat!), and the salad'll have just 250 calories and 14g fat (PointsPlus® value 7*). The Greek-yogurt smoothie has 200 calories, plus 4g fiber and a whopping 15g protein (PointsPlus® value 5*)! Powerful stuff. Keep 'em coming, restaurant peeps!

New Year, New Chews! Exciting Products on the Way...

Seems like every food company out there has made a resolution to debut TONS of new products this year... and we're glad they're sticking to it! First up, General Mills has announced that it'll unveil 100 newbies in 2013. Yup, a HUNDRED. We're psyched about the Fiber One additions (80-calorie chocolate cereal and amazing protein bars), Green Giant Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips (with 40 percent less fat than regular potato chips), and two new flavors of Yoplait Greek 100 (Tropical Fruit and Lemon!). Not to be left in the dust, Kraft revealed its own plans to roll out more than 40 new products. On our list of must-try items: Oscar Mayer Carving Board Pulled Pork (ready to eat, and with completely reasonable stats!) and Oscar Mayer Selects Chicken Breast Franks (made with white-meat chicken and no artificial preservatives). And following the success of Dr Pepper TEN, Dr Pepper Snapple Group is introducing 10-calorie versions of 7-Up, Sunkist, Canada Dry, RC Cola, and A&W Root Beer. (Does anyone drink RC Cola anymore?) Last but certainly not least, Popchips brand ambassador Katy Perry has created her very own Popchips flavor. And the new flavor is... Katy's Kettle Corn!!! We can't WAIT to try it.

The Buzz...

Awesome book alert! Check out The Best Things You Can Eat For Everything from Aches to Zzzz, from registered dietitian (and HG BFF) David Grotto. Easy to read and packed with useful info and food rankings, this brand-new book is a must-have resource for anyone who wants to know more about feel-good food choices. Fun fact: The book's foreword was written by HG herself (a.k.a. Lisa Lillien). Click NOW to get a copy! ***Oooh, cool contest: UNREAL Candy is celebrating its arrival in Target stores with a pretty sweet giveaway. Just send a photo with UNREAL Candy to for a chance to win $10,000 to shop at Target! (Ends 1/18/13. Restrictions apply.) We enjoy UNREAL Candy, but we don't recommend spending ALL the winnings on candy... ***Love the low calorie counts of puffed cereal but wish it packed a bit more nutrition? (Let's be honest... It's mostly air.) Good news: A new scientific process for making the puffy grains reportedly TRIPLES the amount of protein and increases the fiber count by 800 percent. WOWZERS. Sure, the calorie count will likely increase a bit from the added protein, but we're psyched nonetheless! And that's all we've got. HG out!

Today, January 7th, is National Tempura Day. Tempura can be deceptively fattening. For a lightly breaded Asian-style food fix that's totally guilt-free, check out Gardein's Mandarin Orange Crispy Chick'n. (SO GOOD!) Look for it in the freezer aisle...
