  Springtime Restaurant Shockers

Be afraid! Be very afraid...

Olive Garden Herb Cheese Soffatelli with Sautéed Chicken

PER SERVING (1 order): 1,530 calories, 107g fat, 1,940mg sodium, 76g carbs, 7g fiber, sugars n.a., protein n.a. -- PointsPlus® value of at least 35*

The first thing you might think when you see this dish? "Did someone drop a couple of cheese Danishes on my chicken?" And here's the kicker -- this chicken version of the meal is even heavier than the beef option! Uhhhh... WOW. Skip it and order the Herb-Grilled Salmon (510 calories, 26g fat); at least the fat from the fish is the good-for-you kind. Click here for more need-to-know info about Olive Garden!

California Pizza Kitchen Roasted Artichoke & Spinach Pizza
PER SERVING (1 pizza): 985 calories, 19g saturated fat, 2,484mg sodium, 110g carbs, 10g fiber, sugars n.a., 49g protein -- PointsPlus® value of at least 21*

"But HG! This is one of the lighter pizzas on the CPK menu!" That's what makes it so terrifying, people. And since this one features the lower-calorie thin crust, you can bank on the fact that there are several hundred calories' worth of cheese and sauce on there. Gotta have it? Split it with a friend or two. Then pair your portion with the Asparagus & Arugula Salad, which has about 175 calories. Not bad!

Dunkin Donuts Big N' Toasty Breakfast Sandwich
PER SERVING (1 sandwich): 580 calories, 35g fat, 1,370mg sodium, 41g carbs, 1g fiber, 4g sugars, 26g protein -- PointsPlus® value 16*

ACK! With all the lightened-up items DD has added to its menu over the past few years, the chain was bound to roll out something super-scary at some point. This monstrosity consists of two fried eggs, bacon, and cheese between a couple of slabs of Texas toast. Ummm, we're gonna pass. The Egg White Turkey Sausage Flatbread is SUCH a better pick with 280 calories and 8g fat (PointsPlus® value 7*), and you can still get your egg/meat/bread combo on!

Terror in the Supermarket... Serving-Size Trickery!

WHAT IS UP with these delusional portions?! Check 'em out...

Fresh Express Gourmet Cafe Orchard Harvest Salad
PER SERVING (about 2 cups prepared, 1/2 of container): 250 calories, 19g fat, 280mg sodium, 13g carbs, 2g fiber, 9g sugars, 6g protein -- PointsPlus® value 7*

Okay, look at this packaging. Is there anything about it that suggests it WOULDN'T be a single serving? It appears to be a perfect ready-to-go lunch salad. BUT WAIT! If you eat both servings -- as we TOTALLY would -- you'll consume 500 calories and nearly 40 grams of fat. Fresh Ex, lighten up the contents of these containers and we'll talk...

DiGiorno Pizza & Breadsticks Supreme

PER SERVING (1/5th of pizza): 360 calories, 17g fat, 840mg sodium, 38g carbs, 2g fiber, 4g sugars, 14g protein -- PointsPlus® value 10*

PER SERVING (1/8th of breadsticks): 100 calories, 3.5g fat, 310mg sodium, 15g carbs, <1g fiber, 1g sugars, 3g protein -- PointsPlus® value 3*

Of course this product is going to be high in calories. DOY. But the thing that really offends us is the uneven portioning. Allegedly, there are five servings of pizza and eight servings of breadsticks. So not only do you need to add together two sets of stats to get your meal total, but also the collective servings don't divide evenly (which could cause a whining match in some households). Keep things simple; grab one of DiG's 200 Calorie Portions pizzas instead (PointsPlus® value 5 - 6*).
