Bite It! McDonald's Fruit & Walnuts

1 order: 210 calories, 8g fat, 60mg sodium, 31g carbs, 2g fiber, 25g sugars, 4g protein -- PointsPlus® value 6*

Yes, there's the Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfait (160 calories, 2g fat, PointsPlus® value 4*). And the Oatmeal, in either Fruit & Maple or Apple Cinnamon Walnut (270 - 290 calories, 4.5 - 8g fat, PointsPlus® value 7*). But have you heard about this dealio? It's just apple slices, grapes, low-fat vanilla yogurt, and some candied walnuts. Simple but delicious! While we're not thrilled with the fact that the walnuts are candied (who needs the excess sugar and oil?), the total stats are still reasonable so it's not a nutritional deal breaker. Eat this for breakfast or as an awesome midday snack.

Might It? Burger King Chicken, Apple & Cranberry Garden Fresh Salad with Tendergrill Chicken

1 order with dressing: 520 calories, 26g fat, 950mg sodium, 35g carbs, 4g fiber, 35g sugars, 35g protein -- PointsPlus® value 13*

Those stats above? They kinda bum us out. But never fear -- skip the default Apple Cider Vinaigrette dressing and instead use half a packet of Lite Honey Balsamic, bringing the total down to 370 calories and 11.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 9*). Whatever you do, don't get this salad with Tendercrisp (a.k.a. fried) chicken and that cider vinaigrette -- 700 calories and 41g fat. Eeeks!

Fight It! Carl's Jr. Low Carb Guacamole Six Dollar Burger

1 order: 810 calories, 69g fat, 1,800mg sodium, 8g carbs, 2g fiber, 4g sugars, 42g protein -- PointsPlus® value 22*

The short lineup of "Alt Options" on the Carl's Jr. menu features a series of lettuce-wrapped burgers. "But HG, that's good, right?" In theory. However, if the meat is crazy-fatty and the toppings are super-heavy, that burger is STILL going to be a bad choice. This item is a prime example. A lettuce bun doesn't cancel out bacon, cheese, and gobs of guacamole... We wish it did, but it doesn't. A better option at CJ's? The Low Carb Charbroiled BBQ Chicken Sandwich, for 180 calories and 4.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 5*). Even with a honey-wheat bun instead of the low-carb lettuce wrap, it has a reasonable 390 calories and 7g fat (PointsPlus® value 10*).

Bite It! Arby's Roast Chopped Farmhouse Salad

1 order without dressing: 250 calories, 14g fat, 670mg sodium, 11g carbs, 3g fiber, 5g sugars, 23g protein -- PointsPlus® value 7*

If you're looking to lower the fat count, just skip the cheese or only use half of it -- with 110 calories and 9.5g fat, it's the main contributor. Without cheese and before dressing, this salad has just 140 calories and 4.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 3*)... and it still has roast chicken and pepper bacon! If you want to add dressing, go for the Light Italian -- only 20 calories and 1g fat. Just make sure you don't accidentally get the crispy-chicken version of this salad, which has 430 calories and 24g fat... without dressing!

Might It? Qdoba Naked Taco Salad

1 order as listed below: 265 calories, 6g fat, 575mg sodium, 28g carbs, 8g fiber, 4g sugars, 24g protein -- PointsPlus® value 6*

This kind of fresh Mex chain (like Chipotle and Baja Fresh) can be tricky -- you have to choose toppings VERY carefully. Why did we pick Qdoba? The place has a handy-dandy customization feature on its website -- major bonus. A naked taco salad means no shell -- that's 390 calories saved. We chose lettuce topped with pulled pork (surprisingly low in fat!), fajita vegetables (fewer calories and less fat than the grilled veggies), and black bean and corn salsa. Not bad for under 300 calories... And check out all that fiber and protein! Another good option with this salad? Grilled chicken with mango salsa... Add Fat-Free Picante Ranch for only 40 calories.

Fight It! Taco Bell Volcano Nachos

1 order: 990 calories, 61g fat, 1,570mg sodium, 89g carbs, 14g fiber, 6g sugars, 20g protein -- PointsPlus® value 26*

Don't let the innocent-sounding "hearty beans" and "reduced-fat sour cream" fool you. These chips are also smothered in beef, cheese sauce, tortilla strips (chips on chips -- huh?), and more cheese sauce, in the form of a "molten hot lava" version. Considering the basic cheesy nachos have 280 calories and 17g fat, we can't help but wonder... What the heck is in those toppings that adds more than 700 calories and nearly 45g fat?! Sooooo not okay.

Respect the lima beans! Yes, it's April 20th, Lima Bean Respect Day, once again. So get yourself a bag of those frozen mixed veggies with the lima beans in it, and don't pick those suckers out! Unless it's to admire them...
