Lean Cuisine Veggie Cuisine - Get excited, herbivores! LC has teamed up with Gardein, maker of some amazing meat swaps, to bring us this new line of frozen entrées featuring faux chicken and beefy soy crumbles. Choose from Enchilada Rojo with Mexican-Style Rice, Indian-Style Masala, Roasted Red Pepper Fettuccini, and Tuscan-Style Vegetable Lasagna. Each meal has 280 - 320 calories, 5 - 8g fat, 640 - 700mg sodium, 34 - 50g carbs, 4g fiber, 6 - 9g sugars, and 13 - 20g protein (PointsPlus® value 7 - 8*). Find these at select retailers including Walmart. We can't wait to try 'em!

New Flavors! Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps - The prospect of these new flavors has us so excited that we can barely type. (That last sentence took three attempts.) Now available in supermarket deli sections... Jalapeño Jack and Chipotle Cheddar Pretzel Crisps! AHHHHHHHHH! Each serving of the flat pretzel twists (10 crackers) has 110 calories, 1.5 - 2g fat, 400 - 530mg sodium, 22g carbs, 1g fiber, 2 - 3g sugars, and 3g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*).

Bolthouse Farms Creamy Yogurt Dressings and Olive Oil Vinaigrettes
- WOW. These all-natural salad dressings taste SPECTACULAR. They're not all super-low in fat, but the stats are definitely better than standard creamy dressings and vinaigrettes. The Caesar Parmigiano is almost painfully good, and the Chunky Blue Cheese yogurt dressing will have you swearing off other light dressings. A 2-tbsp. serving has 30 - 70 calories, 0 - 7g fat, 50 - 320mg sodium, 2 - 10g carbs, 0 - <1g fiber, 1 - 8g sugars, and 0 - 1g protein (PointsPlus® value 1 - 2*). Just watch those portion sizes!

Sugary Drink Showdown!

Do you sip sugar-sweetened drinks? It's not at all uncommon; research shows that half of the American population does. But the calorie consumption from these drinks among that half is staggering. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that of those folks who drink sugary beverages -- including energy drinks, fruit drinks, sweetened "waters," and sports drinks -- 50 percent consume at least 200 calories' worth daily, and 10 percent consume more than 567 calories' worth per day! A spokeswoman for the American Heart Association says that sugar-sweetened beverages are the top single source of calories in the diets of everyday Americans. People, that's a problem -- not just because of the added calorie intake and weight gain, but also because of increased risk of serious health complications. That's why the AHA, along with the American Diabetes Association and more groups, have joined the Center for Science in the Public Interest in its Life's Sweeter with Fewer Sugary Drinks campaign. And before you start thinking, "Hands OFF my soda," the campaign is merely looking to reduce the average person's consumption level to three sugary drinks per week. Think about scaling back -- it could do your body good!

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed...

Because sometimes, you just need some fun and silly items in your life...

Sandwich Coasters - We love these -- each individual coaster looks like a layer of a sandwich! A set comes with 9 pieces that you can either use to keep your surfaces safe (and adorable) or assemble into an inedible but decorative stack.

Take Your Picnic Tiffin Box
- This li'l lunch box looks almost space-aged! Sleek and stylish, plus the segments are insulated to keep your food hot or cold. VERY smart...

Campbell's Soup To-Go Container - Craving a touch of nostalgia with your meal? This container has you covered. The old-school travel mug even has a separate cup for you to sip from. Awww...

Five After Flatware Clock
- What time is it? Time to eat, duh! And time to get a super-cute timepiece for your kitchen. Seriously, how great is this?

The Buzz...

Have you heard?! HUNGRY GIRL IS COMING TO TOWN! The official tour for our brand-new, must-own market guide -- Hungry Girl Supermarket Survival: Aisle by Aisle, HG-Style! -- kicks off October 12th in NYC! That's one day after the book hits store shelves. Click HERE for all the tour details, click HERE to find the lowest price for the book on our pre-order page, and click HERE to find out how you can score FREE VitaTops when you pre-order two copies. YES! ***Speaking of supermarkets, did you know that the Marie Callender's line of frozen entrées includes a whopping 34 options with less than 500 calories each? It's true! And because Marie rocks so very much, she's made it easy to identify 'em by putting together this groovy webpage. Creamy Chicken & Portobello Risotto? Turkey Breast with Stuffing? Love it! ***We're fans of fiber and its ability to keep us feeling full... and it turns out that fiber may actually help fight fat! A five-year study found that for every 10 grams of soluble fiber a person ate per day, their visceral fat went down by 3.7 percent during the study period; the results got even better with increased moderate activity. YAY! ***Bummer news from the aisles of Trader Joe's. The chain's Organic Tomato Bisque -- delicious doppelganger to our beloved Amy's Organic Chunky Tomato Bisque -- has apparently been discontinued. Sad! No worries, though -- Amy's still makes the exact same product; just look for it on supermarket shelves. ***Back to some good news, this time from the restaurant world. Darden Restaurants (parent company to Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and several other chains) is pledging to reduce calories and sodium by 10 percent in the foods at all of its restaurants over the next five years. The company also plans to decrease calories and salt by 20 percent within the next ten years. AWESOME! ***Last but not least, an ALL-NEW episode of Hungry Girl airs this Sunday on Food Network. It's called "Mom's Favorites" and it's all about childhood classics, from baked apples to stuffed cabbage! Watch the preview now, and tune in for the episode this Sunday (10/2) at 10am/9c on Food Network!
