Good Karma Flax Milk - This may just be the find of the year! Made from omega-packed flax seeds, the new milk swap is free of dairy, gluten, and soy; plus it has as much calcium as regular milk. It's also EXTREMELY creamy and delicious, and (unlike some soy and almond milks) it has absolutely no aftertaste. SCORE! In Unsweetened, Original, and Vanilla, a cup has 25 - 60 calories, 2.5g fat, 80mg sodium, 1 - 11g carbs, 0g fiber, 0 - 11g sugars, and 0g protein (PointsPlus® value 1 - 2*). Click to find some near you (it'll be in the fridge section), and prepare to fall in love. (And YES, the unsweetened one has just 25 calories per cup!)

Ortega Reduced Sodium Seasoning Mixes - Pre-mixed seasoning packets are great li'l shortcuts... but sometimes, the sodium can be a bit out of control. Joining Ortega's lower-sodium taco seasoning are three more sodium-slashed mixes: Chili, Burrito, and Fajita! A serving (1 1/2 tsp. - 1 1/3 tbsp.) has 15 - 30 calories, 0 - 0.5g fat, 220 - 260mg sodium, 3 - 6g carbs, 0 - 1g fiber, 0g sugars, and 0 - 1g protein (PointsPlus® value 0 - 1*). Snag some from that aisle of the market with all the seasoning pouches or the ethnic-food aisle.

Tyson Grilled & Ready Fully Cooked Honey BBQ Seasoned Chicken Breast Strips - We love Tyson's Grilled & Ready chicken. It's convenient, heat-n-eat protein goodness! And yeah, we could just put some BBQ sauce on plain poultry... but chicken with BBQ flavor cooked into it just sounds yummier! Each 3-oz. serving of these brand-new, preservative-free strips has 110 calories, 2.5 fat, 580mg sodium, 3g carbs, 0g fiber, 2g sugars, and 18g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). We can't wait to have some in salads, wraps... even straight from a plate. Find this kicked-up chicken in refrigerated sections of supermarkets and Walmart locations nationwide.

Small Changes, Big Results!
Daunted by the thought of making big better-for-you changes? Don't be. Research shows that even minor improvements can make a huge impact. For example, if you're intimidated by weight lifting, you'll be happy to know that a recent study found lifting light weights can be just as effective at building muscle as lifting the heavy stuff; as long as you work your muscles until fatigued, the amount of pounds doesn't matter. And when it comes to childhood obesity, every calorie counts. New research suggests that reducing the average calorie intake among children and teens by just 41 calories per day could end the steady increase in weight among American youth. We're guessing it wouldn't take a much bigger cut to turn around the adult obesity trend. And if you're the type who thinks calorie burning means a major workout, good news: Results of a new study show that walking in place during commercial breaks can torch a considerable amount of calories and help establish healthy habits. So lift a light weight, cut a few dozen calories, get up off the couch... Just do SOMETHING!

Have a Spice Day!
Recently, the news headlines have been peppered (tee-hee!) with emerging research about the possible health benefits of certain spices. Black pepper, for example, contains the component piperine. A recent study found that piperine can help block the formation of new fat cells. YES! And everyone's buzzing about garlic, since new findings indicate a compound in garlic is 100 times more effective than a couple of popular antibiotics when it comes to fighting a common food-borne illness. While eating more garlic won't necessarily prevent food poisoning, experts predict it could be used in treating meats and food-prep surfaces. WOWZERS. And for the hungry boys out there, a new study out of Long Island University has found a link between oregano consumption and the treatment of prostate cancer -- the carvacrol in oregano induced cell death in the cancer cells. Herb's the word...

'Wich Things Up!

It's 'Wich-craft! (New Sandwich Finds)

Start making better sandwiches immediately with these great new products...

Arnold Artisan Ovens Flatbread - New flatbread = YAY! These would be fantastic for folded sandwiches and pizza-like items too. In Original, Savory Herb with Rosemary & Basil, and Multi-Grain, each fiber-packed flatbread has 140 calories and 3g fat (PointsPlus® value 4*). Schmancy and guilt-free!

Oscar Mayer Selects Cold Cuts
- Get this: OM's new lineup has no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. BRILLIANT! There are turkey, chicken, ham, and beef options to choose (or should we say, chew!) from. Each 6-slice serving has 50 - 60 calories and 0.5 - 1g fat (PointsPlus® value 1*). P.S. There are also hot dogs and bacon in the Selects line, but those aren't necessarily low in calories or fat.

Sargento Ultra Thin Slices - These aren't reduced-fat cheeses; they're reduced-size slices. Each super-slim slice has 45 calories or less. Perfect if you crave a slice of real cheese without the usual (high) calorie and fat counts. A 3-slice serving of Colby-Jack, Mild Cheddar, Provolone, or Swiss has 120 - 130 calories and 9 - 11g fat (PointsPlus® value 3 - 4*). This does not mean you need to eat three slices at once...

The Buzz...

Wanna eat the items you saw Lisa (HG herself) dish up on The Dr. Oz Show last Wednesday? Um, of course you do! Click here for all the recipes -- we're kind of in LOVE with the big pizza-stuffed baked potato! ***There's a new fruit-topped oatmeal option coming to Mickey D's! The limited-time-only Blueberry Banana Nut Oatmeal is rolling out at McDonald's this month. The b-fast bowl has 290 calories and 8g fat (PointsPlus® value 8*). It'll only be around until the beginning of August, so try it while you can! ***What's your favorite flavor... and what might that say about you? In a recent survey, most Americans chose sweet and salty as favorite flavors, but those identified as "foodies" were more likely to go with bitter, sour, or umami as their taste preferences. Also interesting? Men and women were pretty similar in preferences EXCEPT when it came to bitter foods -- men were nearly twice as likely to choose them. ***Looking for a new pre-mixed party drink? Jose Cuervo now has ready-to-drink Wild Berry Light Margarita with only about 90 calories per 4-oz. serving! Just because Cinco de Mayo is behind us, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a fruity margarita by the pool! ***Running low on VitaTops? Never fear -- an amazing new HG Vita special (with free shipping!) is heading your way THIS WEEK, so keep an eye on your inbox. (If you're not subscribed to the free daily emails, now is a good time to sign up!) A freezer full of 100-calorie VitaTops is an excellent thing to have with summer on the way... And that's all we've got. HG out!
