New Flavor! Kashi Garlic Pesto Pita Crisps - We're flipping out about the latest flavor of Kashi's classic crunchy snacks... Garlic Pesto!!! We suspect you're now flipping out too. An 11-crisp serving has 120 calories, 3g fat, 180mg sodium, 23g carbs, 5g fiber, 2g sugars, and 3g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). Look for these at major supermarkets and Target locations.

Larabar ALT - These bars are so exciting, they probably need a choreographed cheer routine to do them justice. We'll stick to writing about 'em for now... They're Larabars with added protein! ALT stands for Alternative Protein Bar. These bars are made with pea protein rather than soy or dairy! They come in seriously indulgent flavors: Cinnamon Apple Crisp, Lemon Pound Cake, Peanut Butter Cookie, and Pumpkin Pie. Each bar has 210 - 240 calories, 6 - 10g fat, 10 - 20mg sodium, 23 - 30g carbs, 3g fiber, 14 - 19g sugars, and 10g protein (PointsPlus® value 5 - 6*). Find them across the USA in natural-food stores (like Whole Foods). Coming soon to Target and other retailers!

HannahMax Baking All Natural Crunchy Cookie Chips - Here's one for the cookie-loving crowd -- slim 'n crispy cookie treats! Even those who typically prefer chewy cookies will adore these. (We sure do!) Choose from Original, Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Sugar (tastes like a churro!), and Sea Salted Peanut Butter. Eat five cookies for 120 - 130 calories, 5 - 7g fat, 75 - 160mg sodium, 15 - 19g carbs, 0 - <1g fiber, 11 - 14g sugars, and 1 - 2g protein (PointsPlus® value 3 - 4*). Find these in many supermarkets, online, and in the hands of hungry HG staffers.

Fast Food & Coffee Chain News!

McDonald's Makes Menu Changes - Farewell, Fruit & Walnuts. Sadly, this item is getting the ax (along with the Chicken Selects), due to poor sales. At least there's still the awesome Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfait. (We recommend ordering this ASAP, because it ROCKS!) In happier news, Mickey D's is test-marketing McWraps, which are like the chain's chicken snack wraps, but meal-sized. If you see 'em, get your chicken grilled, not crispy (a.k.a. fried). Finally, the beloved -- yet super-fattening -- Shamrock Shake is back. Click here for our slimmed-down swap!

Starbucks Launches Bottled Iced Coffee - "Wait, hasn't the 'Bucks had bottled and canned coffee drinks for a while now?" Well, they've had the Frappuccinos and Doubleshot espresso drinks for some time, but these are different -- the entire line is super low in fat with 120 calories or less per 11-oz. bottle. Choose from original Coffee + Milk, Low Calorie Coffee + Milk (50 calories!), Vanilla, and Caramel. Yum! Find these in grocery stores and other retailers.

Emotional Eating: Why We Do It, and What to Do About It!

The concept of "eating your feelings" is not new... But have you ever wondered why we associate food with feeling good? NPR, along with a couple of other organizations, recently made some interesting discoveries on the matter. In a poll on the eating habits of American families, more than a quarter of the families cited food as a way to show affection, and around half of the families said they treat celebrations as a time to drop concerns about overeating. In studies of chimps and other primates, researchers observed tendencies to use food as a way to strengthen alliances and make new friends. Very interesting! Of course, another side of emotional eating is mindlessly chowing down when we feel sad, bored, stressed, or tired. While it's best to avoid eating in response to feelings other than hunger (and overeating, in general), there are some things you can do to minimize the damage to your diet when you do give in. Be prepared with lightened-up foods to feed common cravings, and always keep an eye on your portions. Just last week on The Dr. Oz Show, Lisa (HG herself) and the doc talked about emotional eating, and Lisa served up a SLEW of better-for-you ways to address those cravings. The Buzz...

Ready for an incredible new fiber-packed find? Good... Check out Fiber One 80 Calorie Wraps! We tried these tortillas, and they are game-changingly good... especially the Garden Vegetable variety! Each one has 7g fiber, plus 6 - 7g protein (PointsPlus® value 2*). They're currently available in the Northeast and (reportedly) Chicago, but expansion plans are underway. Fingers crossed they'll go nationwide soon... In the meantime, request 'em (can't hurt!). ***If you've got the blues, the answer might be more oranges and greens... fruits and veggies, that is! A study in the British Journal of Health Psychology found that when people ate more fruit and vegetables (about 7 - 8 servings per day), they reported more positive emotions than when they ate little produce. We feel better just knowing that! ***Here's a way to use social media for a good cause -- Panera Bread's new Facebook app, Food Chain Reaction. Invite four friends to join you in a "circle" -- for every circle created, Panera is donating a bowl of soup to Feeding America... up to half a million bowls. Log in to Facebook to access the app! (Ends 4/1/13.) ***How cool is your coffee? How fancy is your foam? This photo collection features some of the neatest latte art we've ever seen, from scary to sweet to sublime. There's even an Angry Birds cup. And that's all we've got. HG out!
