General Fools International Coffee

General Foods is replacing their popular line of Sugar Free International Coffees with coffees that contain fewer carbs. The catch is, the new carbed-down coffees have 20 percent more calories and 2.5g of fat per serving.  Yes, General Foods has decided to abandon their practically perfect line of Sugar Free, Fat Free 25 calorie coffees (which only had 5 carbs), and replace them with Sugar Free coffees that have 30 calories, 2 carbs and 2.5 grams of fat!  Let's reiterate -- in order to save 3 measly carbs, General Foods has opted to produce a product that has MORE calories -- with about 75 percent of those calories coming from fat.  Newsflash!  No one wants those extra calories and fat grams!  And it's about three months too late to hop on the low carb bandwagon, guys.  Our advice to fans of the original SF/FF International Coffees?  Run out NOW and scoop up the remaining tins of the good stuff before they're gone forever.

Leaner Pockets

First there were Hot Pockets, then Lean Pockets...and now, Lean Pockets Ultra!  Made with a brand-new whole grain crust and stuffed with either Meatballs & Mozzerella, Ham & Cheese or Pizza-rific sauce and cheese, these compact bundles of delicious joy contain just 200 calories, 6 grams of fat, 24 grams of protein, 7 grams of fiber & 12 net carbs!  The best part is, they're ready to eat in a minute and a half.  We recommend you use that 90 seconds to seethe some more about the General Foods International Coffee situation.

Is Fiber Here to Stay?

Looks like something good will come of this out-of-control low carb trend after all: Fiber-packed foods!  The percentage of foods being touted as "high fiber" has recently risen from 2.5 percent to 4.2 percent.  Fiber not only lowers the net carbs in foods (and of course Weight Watchers points), but it also helps you feel full, keeps weight under control, is a cancer-protector and can aid in the prevention of heart disease.  In other words, fiber ROCKS!  Experts predict that even after the low carb craze dies down, manufacturers will continue producing foods filled with fiber.  This is great news, people!

Winners Announced...

Last week, so many letters poured in from people DYING to try that Raspberry Gayle's Miracles truffle, that we decided not to keep any of the candies for ourselves and instead send out truffles to SEVEN lucky chocoholics.  The winners are Susan, Debbie, Nicole, Eleanor, Rose, Susan & Janet.  The winners of the Baja Bob Mai Tai mix are Kathie & Julie.  Congrats!
