Our Current Favorite Color: GREENE!
By now, you've probably heard all about Mr. Bob Greene, the man behind Best Life and trainer to (drumroll, please...) Oprah!!! If you haven't stopped by his website, we encourage you to scope it out (after you're done reading this news, of course). The latest from team Greene? Well, Bob has a new book out called The Best Life Guide to Managing Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes, featuring a special Best Life program for those with diabetes or pre-diabetes. If that's you (or a loved one), check out the book! And the REALLY exciting news? We've partnered with our buddies at Best Life to offer YOU, the HG readers, one FREE month as a member of the Best Life website, using either the regular program or the new program for people with diabetes/pre-diabetes. We like Bob's whole change-for-life mentality, so if you're looking for a boost in the right direction, take this offer and run with it... on a treadmill... while watching Dancing with the Stars. (BTW, we're enjoying Kelly O. way more than we expected to.) Click here to register for your free month! (Sign up before 11/30/09.)
Greene... Rhymes with LEAN!
Waaah, Waffle Shortage!
Death of a Corn Dog, plus Vanishing Waffles!
We're very sad to report that our beloved Morningstar Farms Corn Dogs (both the full-size and the minis) are likely gone forever. After mysteriously disappearing over the summer, due to a so-called "temporary out of stock situation," the world's best meat-free corn dogs have officially been discontinued. Soooo sad... Rest in peace, corn pups. In other news, another of our freezer-aisle staples -- Eggo Nutri-Grain Low Fat Waffles -- has been reported MIA. Apparently, flood damage and technology transitions at Eggo have led to supply issues, and the waffles aren't expected to be fully back in stock 'til mid-2010. ACK! Click here for the latest info, and grab some Kashi GOLEAN Waffles to comfort you during this difficult time...
Have you noticed that lots of food products are getting makeovers these days? The latest one we've spied is 100 Calorie Packs (by Nabisco), or should we say, "Nabisco 100 Cal." New logo. New box. Not sure why. It's kinda cute, but we think we like the old packaging better. You? ***Ooooh, "coming soon" alert!Mann Packing, creator of our beloved Broccoli Cole Slaw, will soon launch Lo Mein Stir Fry, a broccoli slaw mix complete with cooked noodles and teriyaki sauce -- and it clocks in at just 80 calories per serving. Nicely done! ***A recent study found that people who chewed sugar-free gum for a total of one hour in the morning consumed fewer calories overall compared to non-gum-chewers. Fascinating stuff, but even more interesting? The study was funded by the Wrigley Science Institute (as in Wrigley gum), whose primary purpose is to conduct research related to the "benefits of chewing." Hmmmmm. We're on board with the whole gum-chewing thing, but just remember to stick with sugar-free gum! ***Falling stats update! We've noticed that Green Giant Just for One Broccoli and Cheese Sauce now contains 40 calories per tray, instead of 45 calories. Same delicious, portion-controlled goodness, but with five fewer calories. PAR-TAY! That's all we've got. HG out!
