Duke's New York Roadhouse Sauce - BBQ sauce lovers, grab a notepad. You NEED to remember the name of this stuff. It's AMAZING. (Yes, NYC has good BBQ; get over it.) Gourmet Basics Smart Fries- Friends, these are super-fantastic, light 'n crunchy air-popped potato snacks. Get 'em in Vintage Cheddar, Honey BBQ, Jalapeño Heat, Honey Mustard & Onion, Classic Sea Salt, and/or Vinegar Splash. A 1-oz. serving has 110 calories, 1.5 - 2g fat, 330 - 410mg sodium, 22 - 23g carbs, <1g fiber, 0 - <1g sugars, and 1g protein (POINTS® value 2*). They're currently sold only in select stores in NYC, but you can order them online (in single-serving pouches!)... or take a road trip to the Big Apple and pick up some Duke's sauce while you're there!

(Pssst... There's a Coffee of the Month club! And this stuff ROCKS iced! OK, bye.)
The Food World Gets App Happy (Mobile Apps, not Meal Starters)!
There's an app for pretty much everything these days -- check out a few new ones we've been eyeing...
Weber's On the Grill - No better time to download this one. For the novice griller, there's a guide with basics (lighting the grill, safety, etc.) and a guide with cook times for various food items. Watch a celeb chef in action, view recipes, assemble a grocery list... There's even a timer. Hot stuff!
FitClick Mobile - If you're looking for something to help you with your weight-loss/weight-management endeavors, check this out. Create your own diet plan; log your meals, snacks, AND exercise (the built-in database will track your calories); view fitness demos; and more. So helpful!
GoodGuide - Sure, we all want groceries that are healthy and good for the environment... but it's REALLY hard to know what to get! With this app, you can simply scan product barcodes at the store -- using your phone's camera feature -- and get instant ratings on health, social responsibility, and environmental impact, as well as an overall GoodGuide rating. That's a load off our minds...
Hey, Bagel! Have You Lost Weight?
Restaurant Trend Alert: Flat Sandwich Buns!
Now that calorie counting is in vogue and supermarket shelves are overflowing with 100-calorie-or-so flat rolls (Sandwich Thins, Deli Flats, Bagel Thins, etc.), slim sandwiches are officially IN. And restaurant chains are taking notice. Einstein Bros/Noah's New York Bagels recently launched Bagel Thin Sandwiches, which look GREAT. The Tuna Thin and Turkey Thin each have just 250 calories and 6 - 9g fat! (FYI, the Thins themselves have 120 calories each.) And those Egg White Flatbread Sandwiches at Dunkin' Donuts? They're now sporting a sleek round style and appear to have less bread and more filling. Each one has 290 - 330 calories and 8 - 12g fat. (Yup, the stats increased slightly; but at least it's due to the extra good stuff.) Hmmm... Between these good 'wiches and Burger King's Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich with its new lower-calorie ciabatta bun, the world of grab 'n go food is looking better and better! Skinny rolls = our BFF.
Been itching to try the new McDonald's Real Fruit Smoothies? Consider this your calamine lotion. (Or don't. Eww.) Click here for a $1-off coupon that's good 'til mid-August. FYI, a 12-oz. drink has 210 calories, 0.5g fat, and 2 - 3g fiber. Not bad! ***Have you heard about the "pizza diet" guy? Matt McClellan just finished biking up the East Coast promoting pizza as a diet food (um, BTW, he owns a pizzeria), after reportedly losing nearly 25 pounds in 30 days eating nothing but pizza. P.S. His month of weight loss also included an increase in activity, for a total of one hour of exercise every day... but yeah, SURE, it was the pizza that did it. PEOPLE! It's all about calories in versus calories burned. ***Looks like 2010 truly is the year of the sandwich. The latest? The Candwich. That's right. A sandwich that comes in a can. Flavors include two PB&J combos (one strawberry; one grape) as well as BBQ chicken. It's all just so wrong... especially the part of the label that reads, "Candy Surprise Inside." Yeesh... ***We like our portable peanut butter in portion-controlled pouches (NOT canned sandwiches!), so we're THRILLED that Justin's Nut Butter is now available at SuperTarget locations across the country, in jars and packets. Go, Justin! That's all we've got. HG out!
