Our Latest Splenda Sighting!
New Diet Coke with Splenda on the Way!
Last week, The Coca-Cola Company announced it will soon introduce a version of Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda. The new beverage won't replace the regular Nutrasweet-infested Diet Coke, but rather be another Diet Coke option. This news leaves us pondering whether or not there'll soon be Splenda-sweetened versions of Caffeine Free Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Lime, Diet Vanilla Coke, and Diet Coke with Lemon. No word yet, but we'll keep you posted.
McDonald's Loses in Big Fat Settlement!
Back in 2002, McDonald's very publicly announced that they would be lowering the trans fats in their cooking oils, and that this change would take five months to complete. Then, five months later, they very quietly announced a delay in that plan. The fast food giant was later sued by bantransfats.com, a non-profit advocacy group who felt Mickey D's didn't effectively inform the public of the delay. The result? A settlement in which McDonald's has agreed to pay 8.5 million dollars to various organizations (and people). The bulk of that money will go to The American Heart Association, and be used to educate the public about heart-clogging trans fats. FYI, the evil trans fats in question are still being used in McDonald's fries.

A Weight Watchers Dream!
Tropicana Gets the Point!
If you follow either of Weight Watchers' diet plans, you probably already know that "Tropicana Essentials Light & Healthy" has just 1 point per cup. Now this helpful information will be listed right on the carton. This marks the first time in beverage history a Weight Watchers point value will be on a drink carton! By the way, Tropicana isn't the first company to think of doing this, they're just the first ones who decided to fork over the dough to pay for it. (Using the Weight Watchers name = pricey!)
New Chips For You, Sweetheart!
You're not alone if you've flipped over the latest addition to the Glenny's Soy Crisp family, heart-shaped Caramel Soy Crisps. They're the first release in the company's "Sweethearts" line. These sweet & crunchy caramel-flavored critters are flying off shelves faster than they can be stocked, so Glenny's has dreamed up a few more magical flavors (including Chocolate Caramel and Vanilla Caramel). Look for these soy-tastic snacks to be released later this year.
