Marie Callender's One Dish Classics Chunky Chicken Noodles
Here's a piece of advice: If you don't want to be chunky, don't eat something with the word "chunky" in its name. Case in point: Marie Callender's Chunky Chicken Noodles frozen dinner. One package of this chicken catastrophe has 648 calories, 36 grams of fat (14 of them saturated), and 54 carbs. This is "One Dish" you definitely want to skip.
***To get your chicken and noodles fix, slurp up some Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup. The whole can has just 200 calories and 5g of fat!
Dinty Moore Beef Stew
450 calories, 22 grams of fat and 40 carbs is a lot to spend on 1 cup of anything, let alone Dinty Moore Beef Stew. Not only does this canned concoction have more fat and calories than most homecooked beef stews, it also has a lot less taste. Skip this can o' glop!
***Believe it or not, Progresso's Beef Vegetable soup is a great stew swap! And it only has 200 calories and 5g of fat for the entire can!
Costco's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin
Costco's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin should be eaten only if your goal is to become Costco-sized. Each muffin mishap contains a shocking 690 calories, 38 grams of fat, 79 carbs and 48 grams of sugar. Yikes! There is absolutely NO excuse to chew one of these things.
***For a chocolicious muffin fix, try a Deep Chocolate VitaMuffin. They come in all shapes and sizes and contain between 100 and 200 calories and hardly any fat! (They're also packed with fiber and vitamins!)
Stagg Chili Steakhouse, Straight Chili
Stagg Straight Chili is a straight-up disaster. A box of this super-thick chili will cost you a shocking 660 calories and 42 grams of fat (18 of them saturated!). Stagg explains "Straight Chili" is Texan for no-bean chili. Texas, on a possibly related note, happens to be the "least fit" state in the country. Hmmmm...
***Have a hankerin' for chili? Make some at home using ground Boca Burger! (Hungry Girl's special recipe will be in next Thursday's email!)
Sara Lee Southern Pecan Pie
If we were gonna spend tons of calories on a piece of pie, we would save them for a freshly baked, homemade one, not waste them on a mediocre frozen version. One such mediocre pie is Sara Lee's Southern Pecan. One tiny 1/8 of a pie slice stuffs in 515 calories, 24 grams of fat and 70 carbs. And trust us, the piece is TINY.
***If you're jonesing for pie, go for Pumpkin instead of Pecan. Typically, that switch will save you half the fat and calories.
CHEW ON THIS: March 19th is National Poultry Day. Have a chicken-tastic weekend celebration!
