Taco Bell is definitely the most affordable of all of the fast food restaurants we've visted thus far.
And now you can order all of their standard items "fresco style." That basically means they'll replace the cheese and sauce with fiesta salsa. We ordered everything on the menu that seemed remotely healthy. Here's our take:
If you're a fan of steak, you'll like this soft taco. It's just a flour tortilla stuffed with pieces of steak, and some salsa. Plain and simple. And not bad.
This little ground beef soft taco tastes ok, but it's very salty, and the ground beef definitely seems fattier than the steak. Also, please note that this item and the Meximelt, Fresco Style are the exact same thing, only the Meximelt is 20 cents more. We don't, however, fully endorse either of them.
We have to admit it; this flat, crunchy tortilla shell, topped with beans, lettuce, tomato and hot sauce tastes pretty good. But not good enough to make that fatty shell worth eating. We recommend going for the fresco style pinto beans instead. (They're about 20 cents cheaper, too!)
We loved the way this taco tasted -- it was nice and spicy and made with shredded chicken. It's a bit higher-cal than some of the other items, but this soft taco is good enough to warrant those extra 20 calories.
This was, by far, our FAVE taco of them all. Stuffed with lots of grilled chicken, it was definitely the healthiest /x-tad-bigger>tasting/x-tad-bigger> item of the bunch. Watching sodium? Be careful, because this baby is a bit higher in sodium than the other items. Note: The Baja Chicken Gordita uses the same grilled chicken! (Gordita bread is slightly higher in calories though.)
OK, hands down, Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists are the best thing about this restaurant. They're sweet, light and crunchy, and well worth the 160 calories and 5g of fat they contain. And if you want to take in fewer calories than that, you can definitely share an order with a pal instead of downing a whole bag on your own.

HG's Taco Bell Tips...
Think about ordering two soft tacos, but eating only ONE tortilla. Just stuff what's inside the second one into the first, and toss the extra shell. You'll save about 80 - 100 calories!
Avoid the Fiesta Taco Salad in that crispy shell. That edible frightfest contains 870 calories and 47g fat!
Don't be afraid to ask for extra lettuce and tomato! If you order a bunch of it and toss the insides of two fresco style tacos on top, you'll have your very own healthy, low cal mexican salad! Just remember to use salsa instead of dressing.
