Did you miss any of our Fast Food Chew & Tell Series? Here's a quick wrap-up!
The 411 on Salads:
Here's the good news; almost every fast food joint we went to had at least a few decent salads. So no matter where you go, you can find a salad that'll taste fairly good, and not have tons of calories. The best salads we found, hands down, were at Burger King. What can we say? We're suckers for those pouches of chicken! Subway's salads were also really good, as were the ones at Wendy's. And Wendy's has that incredible fresh fruit salad. Yum! Unfortunately, the salad options at the golden arches were not as impressive. Even KFC's were better. Sorry, McDonald's, your salads just aren't great. That being said, we'd definitely still grab one in a pinch.
***BEST FAST FOOD SALADS -- BURGER KING'S FIRE-GRILLED CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD & WENDY'S FRUIT BOWL
If you want reeeeaallly good, moist, hot, "real restaurant" style chicken, believe it or not Burger King is your best option, with Subway being a close second. Wendy's chicken is very good as well. McDonald's and KFC's chicken items aren't as impressive. KFC adds too much salt and pepper to theirs, and the chicken at McDonald's is a bit spongey (FYI "absorbent" isn't what we're looking for when it comes to poultry.)
OK, we'll make this simple. Breakfast at Burger King isn't really an option. Other than applesauce, there really isn't anything to eat that's remotely acceptable. Wendy's doesn't serve breakfast, and neither does Taco Bell. It's actually McDonald's that serves up the best breakfast options. Their yogurt parfait is a winner, and you can get a plain english muffin, or even one with just an egg. As far as morning meals are concerned, you'll definitely have the most options at Mickey D's.

Best Desserts & Treats:
It's easier than you think to find some acceptable sweet treats at the drive-thru. McDonald's Ice Cream Cone, as usual, ROCKS. Do not, we repeat, DO NOT partake in their McFlurries, however. Eeeks! As we mentioned above, the fruit at Wendy's is great, and an itty bitty sized Frostry isn't bad either. Burger King's applesauce is also pretty good as a sweet ending to your lunch or dinner. As for real desserty desserts, KFC's Lil Buckets Strawberry Shortcake isn't exactly healthy, but for 200 calories, you can stick your head in a little strawberry shortcake, and that's not a bad thing. Oh, and Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists are so good they'll make your head explode.
