Thanks to their "light" line of frozen frappes, you can enjoy a frozen treat at Starbucks, sans guilt. Here are our favorites. All nutritionals are for "Tall" size drinks without whipped cream:
Add a shot of no calorie sugar free vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, cinnamon dolce or mocha syrup to either of these to make 'em even better!
****Hungry Girl Super Saver! If you want an Iced Caffe Americano or Iced Caffe Latte, it'll run you about $3.25 for the latte and $2.25 for the americano. If you order an "Iced Dopio" (which is the exact same thing as the Americano, and the same as the Latte, minus the milk) with a shot of SF vanilla, Starbucks will just charge for the espresso shots (Dopio) and vanilla individually. That comes out to just $2.40. And if you want to turn that drink into a Latte, add milk from the coffee bar. This little trick will save you $.85. Woohoo!
Snacktastropes!
OK, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Starbucks is NOT the place to go for guilt-free baked goods. Forget the obvious 500+ calorie disasters like the Cinnamon Roll and the Blueberry Muffin (have you SEEN that thing? 19g of fat!!). Pretty much ALL of Starbucks' pastries and baked items are horrendously fattening. Even their reduced fat muffins and cakes have over 300 calories each. You're better off avoiding cake-y items there altogether. If you need something sweet, grab a Biscotti. It's pretty large (tall for a cookie!), tastes great, has 140 calories (not 110 like the web site says) and about 5g of fat (3 WW Points). Not too bad! Just don't pair it up with some sort of wacky high-cal beverage! We searched high and low for the 60-calorie Cinnamon Twist the coffee chain supposedly serves, but we couldn't locate this evasive item at any of the five Starbucks locations we visited. Does it really exist? Beats us!
Hot Stuff:
Cafe Misto, Tall, fat free milk (1 WW Point) - It's 1/2 coffee, half FF milk and just 60 calories (no fat). We love this. It's a good hot coffee option. For more sweet flavor, add a shot of sugar free vanilla.
Cappuccino, Tall, fat free milk (1 WW Point)- Awesome Cappuccino for just 60 calories and no fat.
Tea-Rific Finds!
Iced Black Tea (0 WW Points) - Tastes great, no calories if ordered unsweetened.
Iced Black Tea Lemonade (1 WW Point) - You can get the tea unsweetened, though the lemonade has some sugar. Still you'll be saving 1/2 the calories, so your drink will clock in at 45 calories instead of 100 (The Black Tea and the Lemonade are good together).
Iced Green Tea, Unsweetened (0 WW Points) - It's really good, calorie free (and good for you!), but has a slight mint taste. If you don't like mint, don't get it
***There are more flavored iced teas. Choose your own, but be sure to order them unsweetened!
Extra, Extra!
In addition to the regular old Starbucks standards, you can find the following good-for-you treats at The 'Bucks:
Dannon Light n' Fit Yogurt (2 WW Points) - Comes in many flavors.
Fruit Salad (2 WW Points) - Very fresh & yummy. Has 100 calories, 0.5g fat & 3g fiber.
CHEW ON THIS: Yesterday, September 22nd, was National White Chocolate Day. We thought we'd let that one slip by without a mention and now it's too late to celebrate!
