Western Bagel Alternative Pita |

When it comes to bread, every calorie counts. So while a regular pita, at around 160 calories, isn't exactly a horrendous diet blunder, Western Bagel's Alternative Pita, with 50 fewer calories and 8 whopping grams of fiber, is a far better choice. The whole idea (and fun!) of a pita is that you get to stuff that pocket of bread with delicious items like turkey, lowfat cheeses and other awesome fillings. So finding a pita that's low in calories (and high in fiber!) is a huge benefit, 'cuz you can use all those calories you saved on bread on fantastic fillings instead. But taste does matter, of course. And luckily these so-called "alternative" pitas taste as good (if not better) than any other pita we've tried. Oh, and they're HUGE too! One thing though, if you live outside of Los Angeles, you'll have to order these babies online. But they're definitely worth the extra effort. |

Again we'll say it. It's not like this Sahara Pita is a big fat faux pas. It isn't. It's just that when the bread part of your sandwich alone totals 160 calories or so, you're not getting a lot of bang for your calorie buck. Let's be honest here. Sure you can eat half a pita for 80 calories, but that's a little sad, isn't it? So, rather than eat a disappointing sandwich, just reach for a fiber-ific Alternative Pita instead. It's a no-brainer. Really. Again, these pitas aren't evil in any way. They're just getting the short end of the stick today because we found a better pita pick. |
