Ghouls Bite Out!
Sneaky Snacker Alert!
A shocking 90% of parents admit to sneaking goodies from their kids' candy bags. 90%!!! So, chances are, if you have kids (or know any!), you'll be doing some munching. Before sinking your fangs into some Halloween treats, know your "fun size" facts:
Halloween fun/snack sizes:
Twizzlers - 45 calories
Milk Duds - 40 calories
Butterfinger - 100 calories
Milky Way - 75 calories
Tootsie Roll (Midgee) - 23 calories
If you're handing out candy this year (and who isn't?!), be sure to give out stuff that doesn't tempt you. If you've mistakenly (yeah, RIGHT) purchased your favorite chocolate bars, get rid of 'em ASAP and stock up on some other, less appealing stuff. And treat yourself to some of our yummy pumpkin dessert recipes instead of gobbling up your kid's Halloween stash. Good luck...and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Chefs Don't Count Calories...
Oh, here's a shocker. It seems most chefs don't care AT ALL about how many calories their dishes contain. A survey of 300 U.S. chefs found that only one in six cares about how many calories they place in front of you. What does matter to them is taste, looks and customer expectations. Both chefs and restaurant owners insist that it's up to the diners to know when to stop eating, and therefore it's likely that serving sizes (as well as our pants sizes) will continue to grow. HG's advice? Be careful...and do your part to make sure your favorite local eateries become part of healthydiningfinder.com (our new favorite website). If we all start demanding healthy options and detailed nutritional info, we can make a difference.
