The Healthiest Book in the World
Awesomely Awesome Book Alert!!!!
You know we're not ONLY about health here at HG (come on, every once in a while people need a fat-free brownie!), but we've found a healthy foods book that's so good it'll make your head explode. The World's Healthiest Foods: Essential Guide for the Healthiest Way of Eating is a MASSIVE cookbook and food reference guide that took 10 full years to compile. The guy who put it together is George Mateljan, the founder of Health Valley Foods. George built Health Valley, then sold it for a pretty penny (ok, probably more like a few billion pretty pennies, but who's counting?) and then, instead of retiring, he spent the next decade slaving over a computer -- researching, developing recipes and digging up info on healthy foods. The very pretty and colorful 880 pages of this book are packed with info like the most nutrient-dense foods (ones that provide the most nutrition for the least amount of calories), the healthiest ways to cook your foods, ways to find and purchase the safest fish, the health benefits of pretty much every food known to man, recipes (most of which take 7 minutes or less to prepare!) and more.Simply put, this book ROCKS and we are completely obsessed with it.By the way, if you would normally be intimidated by a huge book like this, please check it out anyway -- it's super-easy to navigate and the opposite of scary.George, you're a Hungry Girl hero!

Cherry Coke Zero - YAY! Our favorite calorie-free soda on the planet now comes in CHERRY flavor. If you love Coke Zero and cherry flavor, you'll FLIP over this new fizzy beverage. Pssst... rapper Jay Z's peeps designed the can.
Del Monte Fruit Chillers - Good news/bad news. First, the good. Del Monte's new fruit treats are unique -- find 'em in the canned fruit aisle at room temperature. Pop 'em in the freezer and in a few hours you have gorgeous and delicious slushie sorbet. Revolutionary! Now for the less good news. Each 4.5-oz. cup has 190 calories (a bit of a bummer). They ARE made with real fruit and DO have TONS of vitamin C (the mango flavor has 150% of your RDA), so if you have kids that refuse to eat fruit, these could be a great way to sneak some into their diets.
Chex 100 Calorie Snacks - More 100-calorie pouches -- HOORAY! This time you can enjoy two kinds: cheddar flavor and chocolate caramel. Chex Mix rocks! Just be careful not to shovel more than one pack at a time down your gullet.
Ice, Ice, Baby!
Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed
Ice Spoon Molds - Just fill these snazzy things with water and freeze. The result? Spoon-shaped ice. You can chill your drinks while stirring. They're cheapie cheap, too. Weeeee!
Alphabet Soup Cutting Board - We're not sure what the deal is with this, but we like it. Now you can hack your veggies on a cutting board that resembles alphabet soup. Cute! Maybe we're the only ones who like this thing, 'cuz you can nab 'em at 71% off now. Yowsa!
Salad Blasters - Don't be bummed that Mickey D's Salad Shakers are gone (yeah, they were ditched years ago!). Now you can shake your own salad at home. Just pour the dressing in the top, close the lid and shake it up, baby!
Guess what? So many people special order low-fat milk in their Starbucks drinks that the company is testing 2% milk as the default option in 300 stores in 4 markets. Think it's a good idea? Click to take our poll!***WOW, we are in LOVE with a company called YoNaturals -- they're leading the fight against junk food in vending machines. If you (or some people you know) are in need of a vending machine packed with healthy snacks, click here for all the details. And spread the word to schools, hospitals and hotels, too! ***This has nothing to do with food, but it's still super-important. February 27th is SPAY DAY USA. Spaying or neutering animals is the most effective way to reduce the vast numbers of unwanted animals who are born each year, only to die prematurely without love.Click here to find out all about the events happening across the country this month.
