Hey, Hardee's -- you're not exactly making it easy for us. It's one thing to whip up a guilt-free version of your basic burger, but that MASSIVE towering Monster Thickburger of yours is a different story. With TWO beefy burger patties, THREE layers of cheese, a DOUBLE order of crispy bacon, and a creamy slathering of mayo, that colossal caloriefest wasn't exactly a snap to swap. But, no food challenge is too large for HG (in fact, the harder they are, the MORE we love 'em!), and we managed to pull this one off with some staggeringly awesome stats. Our Mega MonsterBurger has more than THIRTY times LESS fat and just a fraction of the calories of that crazy Thickburger. Ours also has 6 times as much fiber and a whopping 46 grams of protein! Yeah, we're good.
Ingredients: 1 Wonder Light Hamburger Bun (or another light bun) 2 Boca Meatless Burgers, Original 2 slices Jennie-O Extra Lean Turkey Bacon 2 slices fat-free American cheese; each cut into 3 strips 1 tbsp. fat-free mayo
Directions: If desired, toast bun and set aside. In a pan sprayed with nonstick spray, cook bacon to desired crispiness over medium heat, flipping occasionally. Prepare burger patties according to package directions (either in a pan with nonstick spray, or in the microwave). While still hot, top each patty with 2 strips of the cheese. Break bacon slices in half. Criss-cross 2 bacon halves over the bun bottom, and top with the remaining 2 strips of cheese. Stack both cheese-topped burger patties on top, and then criss-cross the other two bacon halves over that. Lastly, smear the mayo on the inside of the top of the bun, and finish off your sandwich with it. Enjoy!
Hardee's prides itself on the Thickburger line, and we get it. Ginormous burgers with cheese and other fatty items are appealing (we know this). But serving up a sandwich that has more than 1,400 calories and over a hundred grams of fat is truly frightening. And as if these horrifying stats weren't awful enough, consider the fact that hardly anyone visits a fast-food joint and orders ONLY a burger. By the time you tack the sides on to your Hardee's meal, it'll likely exceed the calories needed for an entire day (and will probably contain enough fat grams for a very long weekend!). So the next time you wanna kick a killer burger craving to the curb without swallowing a gazillion unnecessary calories, get busy in the kitchen and assemble HG's Mega MonsterBurger. And let Hardee's Monster Thickburger terrorize someone else.
