100-calorie packs ROCK, but sometimes you want to spend those SAME 100 calories in a more clever, more creative way. Here are some of HG's HOTTEST 100-Calorie Couples...
Wonder Light Bread + Oscar Mayer Shaved Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
PER SERVING (1 slice white bread with 8 turkey slices): 100 calories, 1g fat, 738mg sodium, 11g carbs, 2.5g fiber, 0.5g sugars, 13g protein = PointsPlus® value 2*
Did you know you could chew up a big, fat, half a turkey sandwich for just a hundred calories? You can! Just lightly toast your Wonder Light (or any other 40-calorie bread slice), cut it in half, and then load up one half with layer after layer (EIGHT of them!) of these super-thin turkey slices. Willing to add a few extra calories? Add a squirt of mustard or Dijonnaise, a few tomato slices and some lettuce leaves (you'll probably burn more calories chewing your sandwich than you'll add with these ingredients!). Top it all off with the other half of your bread slice, and then swallow 100 calories of sandwich satisfaction. BTW, if you're worried you won't be able to securely sandwich all 8 slices between your bread halves, you can also enjoy this as an open-faced, super-stacked sandwich half.
Green Giant Broccoli & Cheese Sauce + House Foods Tofu Shirataki
PER SERVING (2/3 cup veggies 'n sauce with 1 package noodles): 100 calories, 3.5g fat, 490mg sodium, 13g carbs, 6g fiber, 2g sugars, 4g protein = PointsPlus® value 2*
Back off, baked potato! Broccoli 'n cheddar has a new love interest -- Tofu Shirataki! Whether you prefer the Original Noodle Shaped type (skinny, spaghetti-like noodles) or the Fettuccine Shape (fat, flat noodles), smothering your Tofu Shirataki with Green Giant's gooey cheese sauce full of broccoli trees will instantly turn it into a huge, flavor-packed 100-calorie snack! Don't forget to rinse and dry your noodles extremely well, and nuke 'em for a minute first (standard pre-date procedure for Tofu Shirataki). Then heat the Green Giant veggies, pour the stuff over your noodles, mix, grab your favorite fork (come on, admit you have one!), and get busy.
Egg Beaters + Unsweetened Almond Breeze
PER SERVING (3/4 cup Egg Beaters with 1/4 cup Unsweetened Almond Breeze): 100 calories, 1g fat, 390 - 585mg sodium, 3.5g carbs, 0g fiber, 1.5g sugars, 18g protein = PointsPlus® value 2*
Better warn your skillet and spatula, 'cuz breakfast as they know it is about to change. Simply whip together the Egg Beaters (Original, Southwestern or Garden Vegetable) and Almond Breeze (Unsweetened Vanilla or Unsweetened Original) while your pan's heating up. Then cook as you would any other omelette (using nonstick spray to keep your b-fast from sticking!), and get ready for a super-fluffy, creamy omelette that'll rock your morning!
Apple Slices + The Laughing Cow Light Cheese
PER SERVING (1 medium-small apple with 1 cheese wedge): 100 calories, 2g fat, 260mg sodium, 18g carbs, 3g fiber, 14g sugars, 3g protein = PointsPlus® value 3*
We understand if you're skeptical about the coupling of The Laughing Cow and apple slices. After all, Laughing Cow and Tofu Shirataki were exclusive for a while there. But now they've decided to play the field a bit, and boy are we happy about it. Slathering your apple slices with this soft cheese (in Light Original Swiss, Light Garlic & Herb, or even Light French Onion) is an insanely satisfying way to spend 100 calories. And as for Tofu Shirataki and The Laughing Cow... we'll always have Fettuccine Hungry Girlfredo (sigh).
Chicken of the Sea Premium Skinless & Boneless Pink Salmon + Vivi's Original Sauce in Roasted Grandstand Garlic Carnival Mustard
PER SERVING (3 ounces salmon with 2 tsp. sauce): 100 calories, 3g fat, 554mg sodium, 2.5g carbs, 0g fiber, <1g sugars, 15g protein = PointsPlus® value 2*
It didn't take us long after discovering the wonder-sauce that is Vivi's Carnival Mustard to figure out that the stuff went amazingly well with canned/pouched tuna -- but we decided to expand our seafood horizons and take it out for a spin on some salmon. While we've always been a little skeptical about canned/pouched salmon, we had a feeling it would go really well with Vivi's sauce. We sure called that one! This orangey-pink combo is outrageously good (and pretty to look at, too)! Enjoy it solo as a 100-calorie protein-packed snack, or make sandwiches, salads and wraps with the stuff. And keep an eye out for the 3-ounce pouches of the salmon -- no measuring, no draining!
