We slurped (and chewed a little when necessary) the new Weight Watchers endorsed Progresso Light Soups... and now we're telling ALL! 
Overall Notes & Observations...

  • Each variety has a POINTS® value of 0* per serving, but a POINTS® value of 2* for the entire can (still a major bargain!).

  • Many of these soups are similar to some Progresso classics, but without any meat. Toss a few ounces of your favorite meat, seafood or veggie-friendly protein (like tofu or soy crumbles) into these soups, and you can easily turn 'em into a "complete" meal.

  • Don’t be fooled by the fact that they're all "vegetable" soups -- each of these soups tastes very different!

  • Heads Up! Though they're ALL called "vegetable" soup, only the Italian-Style Vegetable is vegetarian. The others contain beef or chicken stock.

 

SAVORY VEGETABLE BARLEY

PER SERVING (1 cup): 60 calories, 0g fat, 740mg sodium, 14g carbs, 4g fiber, 3g sugars, 2g protein = POINTS® value 0*

What the heck is it? Beef broth with celery, tomatoes, onions, carrots, green beans, and barley.

What does it taste like? This soup has a nice tomato-y, beefy flavor with lots of garlic, but it's a bit light on the barley. Not bad.

What does it remind us of? Beef barley soup (sans beef).

Overall Score: 7. Pretty good. We'd eat it again.

 

ITALIAN-STYLE VEGETABLE

PER SERVING (1 cup): 60 calories, 0g fat, 820mg sodium, 14g carbs, 4g fiber, 4g sugars, 2g protein = POINTS® value 0*

What the heck is it? Veggie base with tomatoes, celery, green beans, carrots, peas, penne pasta, spinach, and Italian herbs & spices (the penne was a nice surprise since it wasn’t advertised as a pasta soup!).

What does it taste like? This tastes like a hearty, herb-packed, tomato-based vegetable soup, with a fair amount of pasta thrown in. Mmmmmm!

What does it remind us of? Minestrone soup. In fact, we're wondering why they didn’t just call it that.

Overall Score: 9. Great soup. And remember, this is the only one that vegetarians can eat.

 

VEGETABLE AND NOODLE

PER SERVING (1 cup): 60 calories, 0.5g fat, 840mg sodium, 13g carbs, 4g fiber, 2g sugars, 2g protein = POINTS® value 0*

What the heck is it? Chicken broth packed with celery, carrots, green beans, corn, noodles, peas, and lots of Italian flavorings & spices.

What does it taste like? It's exactly like chicken noodle soup without the chicken pieces! If you love chicken noodle soup, you'll flip for this stuff. DEE-LISH!

What does it remind us of? Chicken noodle soup. Doy.

Overall Score: 10. Woohoo! Great stuff and a new HG staple!

 

HOMESTYLE VEGETABLE AND RICE

PER SERVING (1 cup): 60 calories, 0g fat, 830mg sodium, 14g carbs, 4g fiber, 2g sugars, 2g protein = POINTS® value 0*

What the heck is it? Chicken broth with celery, carrots, green beans, white & wild rice, red peppers, and lots of herbs & spices.

What does it taste like? Hmmm -- this one has a very strong rosemary & wild rice flavor. It's a bit overpowering actually.

What does it remind us of? Chicken and wild rice soup -- without the chicken and with a little too much herb flavor.

Overall Score: 6.5. Our least favorite of the bunch, though we would still buy it if they were out of all the other flavors.

 

SOUTHWESTERN-STYLE VEGETABLE

PER SERVING (1 cup): 60 calories, 0g fat, 840mg sodium, 12g carbs, 4g fiber, 3g sugars, 3g protein = POINTS® value 0*

What the heck is it? Chicken broth with celery, tomatoes, carrots, green & red peppers, corn, black beans, and Mexican spices.

What does it taste like? It tastes like a Mexican fiesta in a bowl -- delicious, chunky soup with a spicy little kick!

What does it remind us of? Taco soup -- without the gobs of fatty ground beef.

Overall Score: 10. AWE-SOME!!! Can't wait to have it again, but this time with some shredded chicken. Yum!
