PER SERVING (1 wrap): 240 calories, 10g fat, 730mg sodium, 29g carbs, 7g fiber, 3g sugars, 13g protein -- PointsPlus® value 6*
If you're lucky enough to live near a Starbucks that serves warm breakfast wraps, RUN to the nearest location and get your paws on this one. IT ROCKS!!! The first time we bit into one, we almost cried tears of joy. It's served on some sort of wheaty tortilla -- but the best part is the tomato basil flavor. WOWOWOW! You will absolutely FLIP over it. Pair it with a steaming cup of coffee for a great guilt-free b-fast. FYI, this rockin' wrap has fewer calories and fat grams than SO many of the drinks you find at The Bucks. And chewing your calories is WAY more satisfying than sipping 'em.
Quiznos Chili with a Side Chopped Salad
PER SERVING (1 cup of chili, 1 side salad, no dressing): 155 calories, 7g fat, 625mg sodium, 15g carbs, 5g fiber, 5g sugars, 10g protein -- PointsPlus® value 4*
When Quiznos went public with their nutritional info recently, we were SHOCKED (and appalled) by the stats of so many of their selections. But we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that a cup of their chili -- which is a mix of ground beef, red kidney beans, bell peppers, celery, tomatoes, and seasonings -- contains FAR fewer calories than the Wendy's version! It gave us a GREAT idea for a fun mini meal. Order a side salad and top it off with the chili, and you'll have a delicious little chili salad. Chili makes a great salad topper -- especially considering the stats on Quiznos' salad dressings. Even their fat-free balsamic vinaigrette has 110 calories (not to mention 1,020mg sodium!). And don't even ask about their 500-calorie honey mustard. Yikes.
Taco Bell Grilled Steak Soft Taco, Fresco Style
PER SERVING (1 taco): 160 calories, 4.5g fat, 550mg sodium, 20g carbs, 2g fiber, 3g sugars, 10g protein -- PointsPlus® value 4*
Anything served "Fresco Style" at Taco Bell is instantly a better choice for you. It means they swap out their usual cheese and sauce combo for a fun blend of chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro (aka Fiesta Salsa). That saves you 11.5 grams of fat and 110 calories on this particular taco. So here's what WE like to do. Order two, but take the innards from one taco (toss that tortilla) and stuff 'em into the other one. That'll leave you with a single super-stuffed soft taco that has just 220 calories and 7g fat. Awesome!!!
Subway Fresh Fit Meal - Veggie Delite Sub with Sweet Onion Sauce, Apple Slices, and Water or Diet Coke
PER SERVING (6" wheat or Italian bread sub, 1 serving sauce, 1 package apple slices, 1 bottle of water or 21-oz. diet soda): 305 calories, 3g fat, 585 - 655mg sodium, 62g carbs, 7g fiber, 22g sugars, 9g protein -- PointsPlus® value 8*
Subway has always had some great guilt-free "6 Grams of Fat or Less" 6-inch subs. But with this combo from their Fresh Fit menu, you can chew an entire tasty meal for a PointsPlus® value of 8*.. CHEW-TASTIC! This "salad sandwich" comes stacked with fresh shredded lettuce, juicy tomato slices, crunchy green bell peppers, red onions, sliced black olives, and zesty pickles. And topping it with the fat-free Sweet Onion sauce (which is so good we want to sit Indian style in a giant vat of it with a spoon) makes all the difference. And for those of you who are too lazy to hack fruit at home, you'll appreciate Subway's adorable little baggies of nicely sliced apples. Very cute!
