It's a peanut butter party, and you're invited! In celebration of National Peanut Butter Day, we sniffed out the best new PB products, plus some scary shockers and swaps, too...
NEW Peanut Butter Finds!
Reese's 100 Calorie Peanut Butter Wafer Bars
PER SERVING (1 bar): 100 calories, 6g fat, 50mg sodium, 11g carbs, 0g fiber, 8g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 3*
Kudos to Reese's for coming up with a 100-calorie treat that isn't just a pathetically small serving of the regular version of something. Each of these bars has a layer of peanut butter sandwiched between two light, crunchy wafers -- and the whole thing's wrapped in Hershey's chocolate. Yum! True fans of chocolate and peanut butter (definitely one of our favorite couples) should locate these immediately. They're GREAT!
Quaker Mini Delights, Peanut Butter
PER SERVING (1 bag): 90 calories, 4g fat, 105mg sodium, 13g carbs, 1g fiber, 6g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 2*
Hooray... a brand-new flavor of Mini Delights!!! We're very excited about these sweet, crunchy, PB-drizzled, little multigrain snacks in portion-controlled packs. And we have all sorts of plans for them. We’ll be making tiny frozen sandwiches out of 'em (with Cool Whip Free), stashing packs of 'em in our gym bags and desk drawers, and sprinkling our light ice cream and fat-free yogurt with crushed up pieces of 'em. Yay!
Slim·Fast Protein Snack Chews, Peanut Butter
PER SERVING (1 pack): 100 calories, 3.5g fat, 90mg sodium, 12g carbs, 0g fiber, 5g sugars, 6g protein -- POINTS® value 2*
At first, we were sort of skeptical of these chewy candies claiming to be hunger-busting snacks. But they taste pretty great and really do leave you fairly full. And they're infused with a whole bunch of vitamins and minerals. Best of all, not only are they portion-controlled into 100-calorie packs, but each Chew is individually wrapped (so you can spread out this snack and continuously kick a PB craving throughout the day). Heads up: These do contain maltitol syrup, so if you are sensitive to that stuff, consider yourself warned.
PER SERVING (1/2 cup): 360 calories, 24g fat, 100mg sodium, 27g carbs, 2g fiber, 24g sugars, 8g protein -- POINTS® value 9*
Sure, full-fat ice cream is always gonna be worse than the light stuff. But this frightening frozen concoction from Häagen-Dazs is REALLLLLY bad in the nutritionals department. Nearly half of those 24 fat grams are saturated, and it's got TWICE the fat and calories of almost all other chocolate 'n peanut butter ice creams out there! Instead of swallowing this 360-calories-per-serving monstrosity, check out Blue Bunny's Light Personals in Peanut Butter Fudge. It has just 130 calories and 5g of fat per half-cup serving (POINTS® value 2*). Muuuuch better!
Dunkin' Donuts Peanut Butter Cup Cookie
PER SERVING (1 cookie): 590 calories, 29g fat, 530mg sodium, 73g carbs, 3g fiber, 49g sugars, 11g protein -- POINTS® value 14*
How dare ONE single cookie be so freakishly high in calories and fat? We strongly suggest you drive past the Double D and hit the supermarket for a box of Kraft's South Beach Diet Cookies in Peanut Butter. You get two cookies per pack, and it'll only cost you 100 calories and 5g fat (a POINTS® value of 2*).
Baskin Robbins Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Shake
PER SERVING (small, 16 oz.): 920 calories, 61g fat, 550mg sodium, 76g carbs, 5g fiber, 67g sugars, 25g protein -- POINTS® value 23*
AHHHHHHH 920 calories?!? 61 grams of fat??? And what's most alarming here is the fact that these stats are for the smallest size shake available. A large one has 2,160 calories and 147 grams of fat (POINTS® value 55*)! Get your sippable peanut butter fix with a Hungry For Peanut Butter Milkshake. With just 142 calories and less than 4g fat (POINTS® value 3*), this shake puts Baskin Robbins' to shame.
