a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in

Spotted on Shelves...
Kellogg's Special K Chocolatey Pretzel Bar - It's crunchy. It's chocolatey. It's
PRETZELY! In a crowded sea of snack bars, this new chocolate-bottomed,
pretzel-infused cereal bar from The K really IS special! Only 90 calories, 2g
fat, 17g carbs, <1g fiber, and 1g protein (POINTS® value 2*) per bar. YUM!
Amy's Teriyaki Wrap - Amy's does it again! This perfectly sauced, just-sweet-
enough, tofu-brown-rice-'n-veggie roll-up is a great mini-meal option for
ANYONE. Even meat-eaters who THINK they're not tofu fans will love it. Trust
us and try it! Also, check out these impressive nutritionals: Each 5.5-oz. wrap
has 290 calories, 7g fat, 48g carbs, 5g fiber, and 9g protein (POINTS® value
6*). Amy, you've still got it!
FiberGourmet Lite Cheese Snacks - Well, this is more like "Spotted on the
Web," but it's definitely worth mentioning. Our pals over at FiberGourmet
(the high-fiber pasta and mac & cheese people) have whipped up little snack
crackers that ROCK. These come in single-serving pouches, each with 80
calories, 2g fat, 22g carbs, 12g fiber, and 5g protein (POINTS® value 1*).
Both flavors -- Nacho and original Cheese -- taste GREAT, and you get an
awful lot of mini crackers for 80 calories. Yay!
New Products, Coming Soon...
Larabar Peanut Butter & Jelly - We got a sneak-chew of this new Larabar
flavor, and it ROCKS beyond belief. It really tastes like a classic PB & J
sandwich! With 220 calories, 10g fat, 28g carbs, 4g fiber, and 6g protein
(POINTS® value 4*), it's a totally unique and delicious bar that's worth
getting your hands (and teeth!) on. It's scheduled to hit store shelves in
August, so be on the lookout.
Weight Watchers Endorsed Green Giant Just for One Veggies - Get excited,
people! Brand-new varieties of these single-serving, sauced-up veggies are
hitting store shelves next month, and every one will soon have the POINTS®
value right on the package! Look for new Cauliflower & Cheese (40 calories
and a POINTS® value of 0 per serving) and Peas & Corn in a Basil Butter
Sauce (80 calories and a POINTS® value of 1 per serving) in freezer aisles
next month. P.S. The classic Broccoli & Cheese Sauce now has lower stats --
only 45 calories and a POINTS® value of 0 per serving!
Hansen's Self Beauty Elixir in Tropical Bliss - Despite the somewhat off-
putting marketing spin (pretty potion... really?), this all-natural, low-calorie
juice drink tastes FANTASTIC. It's infused with loads of vitamins, minerals,
fruit & botanical extracts, and more good stuff. The other flavors are just
okay, but the Tropical Bliss gets two MAJOR thumbs up. Each 8-oz. can
contains just 35 calories and 8g carbs (POINTS® value 1*). Expect to see
these beauteously packaged beverages on shelves very soon.
Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed (Back by Popular Demand!)
Animal House Kitchen Gadgets - If you like cute creatures and kitchen
gadgets, you'll freak when you see these crazy-fun offerings. A monkey
veggie peeler? A piranha pizza cutter? A parakeet garlic press?!? So cute...
and reasonably priced, too!
Sushi Soap - We love sushi so much that not only do we want to eat it, we
also want to wash our hands with it! Okay, maybe that's a bit extreme. And
truthfully, this soap set is so cute you won't want to actually use it. It's a
perfect gift for sushi lovers of all ages, shapes, and sizes!
Desktop Hydroponics - Attention cooks, chefs, and kitchen dwellers! As you
probably know, the best herbs are fresh ones yanked (okay, delicately
snipped) right from the garden. Don't have your own plant patch? That's
about to change! Check out this adorable counter-friendly herbfest...
Fans of frozen cocktails MUST check out the latest from our pal Baja Bob:
individual on-the-go packets of Sugar Free California Chocolate Coffee
Mudslide Mix! Toss this no-calorie, Splenda-sweetened stuff in a blender with
a little water (or Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze!), some vodka, and a
bunch of ice... then BLEND! Click here to order it (or just read more about
it). ***SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't seen last Sunday's episode of The
Next Food Network Star and you don't want to know what happened, skip
ahead to the next bit of Buzz. Otherwise, get this... As the champion of the
Wood Grilling Challenge, (our favorite) contestant Jeffrey will have his
winning dish featured on Red Lobster menus for a limited time. It sounds
AMAZING and guilt-free: "Grilled, peppercorn-rubbed fresh tilapia over
shrimp, sea scallops, asparagus, sweet peppers and a spicy soy shellfish
broth." Yum! We can't wait to try it. Go, Jeffrey, go! ***Did you know that
regular physical activity isn't just good for the body, but it's also good for the
brain? It's true. Recent studies show that exercise can boost brain function in
aging adults. Click here to read more about that. ***Speaking of brains,
researchers in England have found that we may be able to trick our minds
into thinking we've taken in extra fuel while exercising. Before a bike
workout, study participants swished carb-containing drinks in their mouths
and then spit them out without swallowing. Apparently, the bikers' brains
sensed they were about to get more fuel (calories) and signaled the muscles
to work harder. The cyclists showed increased heart rates, yet they reported
no increase in effort involved. Interesting stuff, but we can't help but think
that human brains (especially food-savvy ones like ours) would eventually
figure out they're being fooled. That's all we've got. HG out!
