Here are a few AMAZING products we feel are worth the trouble it takes to
get your hands on 'em...
Starbucks VIA Ready Brew
One would THINK these instant coffee sticks would be easier to locate,
considering there's a Starbucks on practically every other block. But sadly,
VIA isn't available in stores outside of Chicago, Seattle, and London. Not fair,
right? Luckily, you can buy it from the comfort of your computer chair and
have it delivered to your doorstep. Yes, we recognize the irony in
ordering "instant" coffee online and waiting days to receive it, but it's worth
it. Really. Try both varieties: Columbia (medium with a nutty flavor) and
Italian Roast (extra-bold with a deep "roasty-sweet" flavor). This is the best
instant coffee. Ever. (In other words, it's worth the price.) P.S. If you're
wondering why there are no nutritionals, it's because a serving of it doesn't
contain significant amounts of calories, carbs, etc. Just don't start consuming
coffee grounds in bulk.
Breaking 'Bucks News! We've just received word that, beginning on
September 29th, VIA Ready Brew will be available in all Starbucks locations
nationwide (in both the U.S. and Canada). Woohoo!!!
Dei Fratelli Pasta Sauce
PER SERVING (1/2 cup): 45 - 80 calories, 0 - 3.5g fat, 260 - 480mg sodium,
8 - 11g carbs, 2g fiber, 5 - 9g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 1*
One day, some delicious sauces appeared on our doorstep. We tasted them,
fell madly in love, and then discovered they're not sold ANYWHERE near us.
Those of you in southeastern states or the Midwest, keep an eye out for this
sauce line on the shelves at your local grocery store (or call for store
availability). The rest of us will have to order online. The sauce comes in a
TON of flavors like Arrabiata, Fire Roasted Vegetable, Three Cheese, Tomato
& Basil, Homestyle, Marinara, Mushroom, and Traditional. WHEW! We're tired
and hungry just thinking about all those yummy flavors. The company's
canned tomato products are top-notch and worth noting as well... but we're
too winded to rattle off all those varieties, too. Another thing to love about
the Dei Fratelli folks? They're WAY into healthy living. Their stuff is all-natural
and they make Low Sodium and No Salt Added products as well. Yippee!
Baja Bob's California Mudslide Mix Singles
PER SERVING (one pouch): 0 calories, 0g fat, 15mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g
fiber, 0g sugars, 0g protein -- POINTS® value 0*
When you go out for drinks with friends, there's always someone who'll order
that mega-monstrosity known as the Mudslide. It's full of ice cream, booze,
coffee, and chocolate, and it's a TOTAL calorie-catastrophe. Enter Baja Bob
to save the day! His Mudslide mix has got all the essential flavors: real
cocoa, coffee powder, and some sweetness, courtesy of Splenda. Blend up
one of these packets with water, ice, and your alcohol of choice (vodka or
rum recommended), and you're indulging safely in the comfort of your
home. And since it's portion-controlled, you don't need to mix up a whole
pitcher of the stuff. Our love for Baja Bob's no-guilt cocktail mixers is no
secret, but it's kinda hard to find the stuff. First option: Click here to see if
it's sold near you. Second choice: Get it directly from Bob's site (or another
online retailer). You can order online, over the phone, via fax, or even
through the mail the old-fashioned way. That's right. Your bases are covered,
no matter how high- or low-tech you are. Bottoms up!
Big Shott's Edible Shooters
PER SERVING (1 shooter): 20 calories, 1g fat, 2mg sodium, 2g carbs, 0g
fiber, 1g sugars, <1g protein -- POINTS® value 0*
There's nothing not to love about these things. They're small enough to be
adorable and big enough to not seem like a waste of effort. What are they?
They're TINY ICE CREAM CONES LINED WITH CHOCOLATE. Needless to say,
we were sold pretty quickly. There's just one itty-bitty problem... they come
from Canada. Luckily, Canadians are sweet and generous people who are
willing to share their delicious little ice cream cones with their neighbors to
the South, but only online. You can order directly from the company -- just
click the "Store" tab on the website. That's what we did. There is a 6-box
minimum, but we're not worried about the large supply going to waste --
between our cute new soft-serve machine (click here to see pics!) and our
Baja Bob's Mudslide Mix (why do you think they're called Shooters?), we plan
to get our money's worth out of these. They'd be a hit at any party, and
they'll help you make a LOT of creative mini-desserts. Hooray!
