***ATTENTION TEXT-ONLY HG SUBSCRIBERS (this means YOU!): Since only
a tiny fraction of our audience receives our emails in text-only form, and the
emails look so much better designed in HTML, we have decided to stop
sending out the text-only versions of Hungry Girl newsletters. This change
will happen in the very near future. Keep an eye out for the HTML versions in
your inbox... coming soon!***
This is the text version of Hungry Girl.

Mamma VIA! So Much Coffee News...
Lots of great stuff coming from the world of Starbucks VIA Ready Brew!
Caffeine-avoiding fans of instant coffee, listen up. Due to overwhelming
customer requests, Starbucks will be releasing a decaf version of its Italian
Roast VIA packets on November 17th. Same high quality, no caffeine.
WOOHOO! Plus, java fanatics can share their love of the quickie coffee by
entering the Starbucks VIA Experience Contest... and have the chance to win
groovy prizes. Just submit your most creative VIA experience by posting a
photo, video, or a few words in writing. Each week until November 10th,
The 'Bucks will crown a winner based on that week's theme. Here are the
"Try it at Work" - Submit your occupation-based experiences ASAP. You've
only got until tomorrow!
"Try it on the Go" - Where do YOU drink your VIA? In your car? On a plane?
While running a 10K? (Probably not that last one.) Ends 10/27/09.
"Try it Far Out" - What distant places have you visited (or could you visit)
with your VIA in hand? The Taj Mahal? The Sydney Opera House? The
Kalahari Desert? (Again, that one might not be the best choice.) Ends
"Try it in Recipes" - What could you put VIA into other than hot water? A
cake mix? Your chili? Mom's meatloaf? (We really should stop at two
suggestions.) Ends 11/10/09.
Even if you don't plan on entering, there are some pretty funny entries
posted that are worth checking out. THANK YOU, STARBUCKS VIA!!!
A Little Water Help, People!
Last week, HG subscriber and longtime pal Ashley begged for our help via
video... and we just couldn't say no. (We love Ashley. She gave us the
Twitter name HungryGirl a while back. Long story for another time.) So
here's the scoop. Water.org brings safe drinking water and sanitation to
developing countries. (Don't tune this out, it's important!) Instead of pouring
money into advertising, the "Women Can't Do Anything" campaign is raising
awareness about this great work via Facebook, Twitter, and more. (The
campaign got its name because millions of women spend countless hours
gathering water from distant locations, preventing them from doing much
else.) Click here, read all about it, watch the awareness video, and do what
you can to spread the word! You can also donate money directly by clicking
here. JUST DO IT.
Peanut butter fans, hear THIS. Justin, our favorite mop-topped PB-maker
and creator of the world's first 100-calorie nut butter packets, is introducing
CHOCOLATE nut butters next month. They're all-natural and INSANELY
delicious, so keep an eye out for 'em. Click here to see all the products, and
click here to see what's available right now! ***In other 100-calorie news,
the folks at Michael Season's, who make AMAZING baked snacks, are
launching portion-controlled packs of their popular crunchy snacks. These
100-cal packs are a tiny bit hard to get your paws on but totally worth
seeking out. (Pssst... You can buy 'em online HERE.) ***Speaking of smaller
portions, Coca-Cola is introducing skinnied-up mini cans of Coke, Sprite,
etc., that contain 90 calories' worth of the stuff (a regular can has about 140
calories). Interesting idea. But still not worth it in our opinion... ***Wanna
know what food items are on sale at Amazon? Check out the Manager's
Special. There's lotsa good stuff here, people, like granulated Splenda and
Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps! That's all we've got. HG out!
