I Wanna Hold Your Ham!

Spotted on Shelves...

Jimmy Dean D-lights Ham Bowl - Sure, it sounds a little frightening (HAM BOWL!), but it's just the latest freezer-aisle breakfast in Jimmy Dean's D-lights line. Packed with scrambled egg whites, potatoes, reduced-fat cheese, and (of course) ham, each bowl has 220 calories, 7g fat, 1,010mg sodium, 18g carbs, 2g fiber, 1g sugars, and 21g protein (PointsPlus® value 6*). Yes, it's high in sodium, so keep that in mind if you're counting.

Snyder's of Hanover Braided Twists - The peeps at S of H really know their pretzels, so it's no shock that these things are good. But flavors like Honey Wheat, Multigrain, and (!!!) Pumpernickel & Onion? Shocking in a very good way! We have to tell everyone about these. A serving of about 8 - 9 twists has 120 calories, 2g fat, 160 - 280mg sodium, 23 - 24g carbs, 2 - 3g fiber, 0 - 4g sugars, and 3g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). Consider yourself told.

Frank's RedHot Thick Cayenne Pepper Sauce - Innovations in the world of hot sauce! This new variety tastes like the original stuff we all love, but it's thicker with way less sodium than an equal amount of the thinner version. SCORE! A tablespoon has 20 calories, 0g fat, 290mg sodium, 4g carbs, 3g sugars, 0g fiber, and 0g protein (PointsPlus® value 0*). Thick is the new thin, baby...

Bitty Bites!

Wanna Work for Popchips? A Pretty Kutch-y Job!
How'd you like to earn the title of VP of Pop Culture over at Popchips... and report directly to the prez of Pop Culture, Ashton Kutcher? You CAN! Just apply by uploading a 90-second video to Facebook that shows why you're the best person for the job. Yes, there is a salary; no, you will not be paid in Popchips. (The free chips are just a job perk.) You've got until next Wednesday (3/2) to apply. Click here and "like" Popchips on Facebook to scope out the competition!

When Techie Met Foodie...
OK, so robots aren't exactly cooking our meals yet, but there have been some crazy new developments in the world of food technology. Kraft and Intel's Meal Planning Solution device SCANS YOUR FACE electronically and assesses which recipes from the Kraft database you'd like the best. This contraption could be in supermarkets by the end of the year. And if you like the taste of slow-cooked food but not the slow part, behold the future: Nutri-Pulse. This machine can stew meat (which normally takes hours) in under 5 minutes, and it can cook fresh chicken and fish in seconds! Kind of makes your microwave seem a little 1974, doesn't it?

Cora the Cat Meets Kermit the Frog!

The Buzz...

Calling all moms (dads too!) -- wanna get your little ones seriously psyched about healthy snacks and meals? Check out the Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora! This site is packed with mini episodes, easy recipes, and more fun for the kiddies. FYI, grown-up Muppet fans might like it, too! Yee-haaa! ***Hey, Weight Watchers followers: Having trouble getting hold of those little blue PointsPlus® calculators? Due to a shortage of the handheld devices, the WW website is allowing ANYONE (not just members) to use an online PointsPlus® calculator. Check it out! ***We're full of good news, so here's more. It turns out that today's eggs are lower in cholesterol and higher in vitamin D than those of ten years ago. A possible factor is improved quality of the hens' diets. Celebrate the good news with some Eggs Bene-chick or Huevo Ranchero Por Uno -- two of the rare whole-egg recipes to come from the HG HQ! ***We hope this is true -- a new study published in the Chemistry Central Journal shows that cocoa powder and dark chocolate have an equal or greater amount of antioxidants and other "super food" nutrients compared to many fruit powders and juices. The study declares this info qualifies cacao seeds for "super fruit" status, which would sound less iffy were the study not put together by the Hershey Center for Health & Nutrition. Hmmm... ***The goodness keeps on coming, people! Sunny Delight, on a mission to reduce calories in its drink lineup, has reached its goal three years early. Original SunnyD now has only 60 calories per 8-oz. serving, and Fruit2O is now calorie-free! That's all we've got. HG out!
