NEWS
Spotted on Shelves...

Skinny Cow Chocolate Candy - The rumors are 100 percent true. One of our ice cream BFFs is now bringing us insanely delicious CANDY! There are Heavenly Crisp candy bars (Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter flavors) and pouches of Dreamy Clusters (in Milk and Dark Chocolate). Each bar or pouch has 110 - 120 calories, 6g fat, 40 - 115mg sodium, 14 - 20g carbs, 1 - 3g fiber, 8 - 10g sugars, and 1 - 2g protein (PointsPlus® value 3 - 4*). These are hitting supermarket shelves (not freezers, silly!) nationwide this month.

Wholly Double Dip Guacamole Topped with Spicy Pico Layered Dip - YOWSA! It's the famous Wholly Guacamole covered with zesty tomato goodness in a ready-for-dipping container! Each 2-tbsp. serving has 35 calories, 2.5g fat, 115mg sodium, 2g carbs, 1g fiber, 1g sugars, and 0g protein (PointsPlus® value 1*). This stuff is seriously amazing! Pair it with some cut veggies or baked chips and CHEW. It's rolling out now, so if you don't see it, request it!

Wonder Smartwhite Bread - We'll take as many light bread options as the market can throw at us! This new bread is loaded with fiber and calcium, and it has 33 percent less sodium than regular white bread. NICE! Each 2-slice serving has 100 calories, 1g fat, 200mg sodium, 23g carbs, 5g fiber, 4g sugars, and 5g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). Look for the recently launched Smartwheat on shelves too!

Yo! Frozen Yogurt News Is Here!

Looking for fro yo to keep you cool as the temps creep up? READ ON!!!

TCBY Super Fro-Yo: The yogurt moguls at TCBY have set a new benchmark with their recent classification for fro yo. In order to qualify for Super status, a 1/2-cup serving must have 120 calories or less, at least 3 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein or more, and a minimum of 7 types of probiotics. So which flavors qualify? All of the No Sugar Added options, as well as Golden and Old Fashioned Vanilla, Fat Free Dutch and standard Chocolate, Strawberry, White Chocolate Mousse, Cheesecake, and Cake Batter. YUM!

Red Mango Raspberry Cheesecake: Here's one for the serious dessert fiends! Red Mango's new limited-time-only flavor packs the taste of berries and cheesecake into fat-free fro yo with just 80 calories per 1/2-cup serving. Beautiful!

Yonanas: OK, this isn't actually a frozen yogurt product, but it DOES create an alternative to fro yo. The "As Seen on TV" gadget takes frozen bananas (and other types of fruit and add-ins) and turns them into a soft-serve-like frozen dessert. Truly cool!

More Cool Treats Than You Can Shake a Spoon At!

Pinkies Up; Don't Slurp!

Tea Time (Fun Finds)!

These aren't your standard, midafternoon, cup-and-saucer teas; these are innovative sippers, bottled or in the bag. First up (get ready, this is a mouthful), Celestial Seasonings Wellness Supplement Antioxidant Max Green Tea. Whoa. These tea bags come in fun flavors -- Blackberry Pomegranate, Dragon Fruit Melon, and Blood Orange Star Fruit -- and are presweetened with stevia! Double whoa! In the bottled tea department, we've got Lipton's new Diet Green Tea flavor... Watermelon! We can't wait to try it. And if you like your iced tea kinda schmancy, this next stuff is for you. The Republic of Tea has new no-calorie glass-bottled iced teas -- Sweet Black Tea and Sweet Green Tea -- that are tinged with that oh-so-popular sweetener STEVIA and available exclusively online, in fancy restaurants, and at premium hotels. Wonder if the queen would approve...

The Buzz...

Recall news! As much as we hate starting the week off with a downer, this is important: Potential salmonella contamination has prompted a voluntary recall of grape tomatoes. Click here for the full info on the affected products. In other recall news, several brands of English muffins have been voluntarily called back, as they may contain metal pieces. Eeeks! Click for more info. ***Ever wondered why we're seemingly struck more often by cravings for junk food than for nutritious foods? Experts say that evolution, stress, and psychological desire each play a part. Intolerance of a certain type of food, like wheat, could even cause us to crave it. This is some interesting stuff... that leaves us still kinda wanting junk food. ***Have you seen Orville Redenbacher's new Pop Up Bowl packaging? It looks like a normal microwave popcorn packet at first; then you pop it and peel off a panel, and VOILA! It's a bowl, all ready for sharing during a movie (or other activity)! The best news of all? Orville's 94% fat-free popcorn, a.k.a. SmartPop!, is now available in this bowl-bag hybrid. Yes! ***Get this... Research suggests that foods containing melatonin -- such as goji berries, cherries, and almonds -- could help prevent weight gain and obesity-related heart disease. However, the study was performed on rats, not humans, so you might not want to buy that cherry orchard quite yet. ***Did you watch the "Comfortably Yum!" episode of Hungry Girl on Food Network yesterday? Good! Next Sunday, the four-week SNEAK PEEK on Food Network continues! Catch "You Wanna Pizza Me?" -- Hungry Girl's ode to the wild world of guilt-free pizza -- at 10am/9c on Food Network. And click here for the 411 on the remaining Hungry Girl episodes to air on Food Network. (Sundays in May only! SO COOL!) And that's all we've got. HG out!
