CHEW THE RIGHT THING
HG's Classic Cheese 'n Bacon Burger
Bacon Me Crazy!
Sometimes, a meatless burger patty just won't do the trick. BEEF RULES. Add some crispy bacon, melted cheese, and guilt-free stats, and what have you got? THIS RECIPE!
One 100-calorie flat sandwich bun (like Arnold/Brownberry/Oroweat Sandwich Thins)
1/2 lettuce leaf
1 large tomato slice
1 slice center-cut bacon or turkey bacon
4 oz. raw extra-lean ground beef (4% fat or less)
1 tbsp. liquid egg whites (about half a large egg white)
Dash each salt and black pepper
Dash garlic powder
Dash onion powder
1 slice fat-free cheddar or American cheese
Optional toppings: mustard, ketchup, hamburger dill pickle chips
Split bun into halves, and top the bottom half with lettuce and tomato.
Cook bacon until crispy, either in a skillet over medium heat or on a microwave-safe plate in the microwave. (See package for cook time.)
In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix beef, egg whites, and seasonings. Evenly form into a patty about 4 inches wide.
Bring a grill pan (or skillet) sprayed with nonstick spray to medium-high heat. Cook patty for 3 - 4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your preference.
Top patty with cheese and cook until melted, about 45 seconds.
Transfer cheese-topped patty to the bottom half of the bun. Break bacon in half, and place over the patty. Finish it off with the top half of the bun!

Bacon Cheeseburger, Average
We've seen you, making those sad puppy eyes at the bacon cheeseburger on the menu. (We're not stalkers, we've just been there ourselves often enough to know!) You wanna order it, but the grossly oversized calorie and fat counts that come along with it are unacceptable. Why torture yourself? We have a REAL solution... and it's made with REAL beef and REAL bacon! Restaurant versions and fast-food varieties will cost you nearly 700 calories and 43g fat, NOT including the fries. Ummmm... Not worth it! Especially when it's so very easy to whip up our recipe at home. Side of fries? Coming right up! Fair warning: This recipe feeds only one; so if you've got company, multiply it to keep others from making sad puppy eyes at your burger!
