The Fiber Pros Add Protein!
Spotted on Shelves...
Fiber One Protein Peanut Butter Chewy Bars - We love snacks that are filling and decadent, so these new chocolate-covered protein bars just scored a prime spot on our grocery list! Packed with peanut butter and roasted peanuts, each bar has 140 calories, 6g fat, 140mg sodium, 18g carbs, 5g fiber, 7g sugars, and 6g protein (PointsPlus® value 4*). Stock up, and check out the Caramel Nut and Coconut Almond flavors too!

Bear Naked Morning Power Packs - Granola is good, but it's SO hard to stick to a single serving... especially since the serving size can be surprisingly small (often 1/4 - 1/2 cup). Well, hooray for these single-serving packets! In both Peak Protein and Fruit and Nut, each 1.5-oz. pouch has 190 - 200 calories, 9 - 10g fat, 0 - 35mg sodium, 22 - 25g carbs, 3 - 4g fiber, 8 - 9g sugars, and 5 - 8g protein (PointsPlus® value 5 - 6*). Perfect as an on-the-go snack! Find 'em at Walmart, Target, Kroger stores, and more.

Nonni's THINaddictives Almond Thins - That Nonni knows her stuff when it comes to crunchy cookie-rific biscotti... which is why we're super excited about these thinly sliced biscotti treats! Choose from Cinnamon Raisin, Cranberry, and Pistachio. Each portion-controlled package has just 100 calories, 3 - 4g fat, 55 - 70mg sodium, 12 - 14g carbs, 1g fiber, 5 - 7g sugars, and 3 - 4g protein (PointsPlus® value 2 - 3*). Click to find or buy online. P.S. The adorable li'l Biscotti Bites are lookin' pretty good too!

Best Sandwiches in America (and Our Best Alternatives!)
The folks at Restaurant Hospitality asked readers to nominate their favorite sandwiches, and the resulting list of winners has us feeling hungry! Luckily, we've got recipes to feed those cravings...

Best Turkey - The turkey melt at Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop in Los Angeles won out in this category. With Gruyère cheese, truffle oil, and a pretzel roll, we're pretty sure this decadent sandwich is a calorie catastrophe. But boy does it look good! For a cheesy turkey 'wich fix, try our Gobble, Gobble Cranberry Grilled Cheese. We're inspired by the winner to swap the cranberry sauce for a heaping pile of cooked spinach!

Best Vegetarian - The top honor went to the crispy eggplant sandwich at Pain D'Avignon in Hyannis, MA. We love the combo of creamy mozzarella-like cheese and crunchy eggplant, but we live nowhere near Cape Cod and we'd prefer a lighter option. If you own Hungry Girl 300 Under 300, sink your teeth into our meatless Faux-Fried Mozzarella-n-Basil Eggplant Sandwiches! If you don't, how about an Eggplant Parmenini? Mmmmm...

Best Lobster Roll - Hinoki & the Bird in Los Angeles serves up the winning lobster roll. It's pretty great that lobster rolls have their own category, but this sandwich looks a little too sophisticated for our tastes. (Japanese charcoal bread with green-curry aioli?) Keep it classic and low in calories with our Lucky Lobster Roll. Score!

Congrats to all the winners! Maybe next year there'll be a Best Guilt-Free Sandwich category...

The Tops and the Swaps!

Milk Made from Nuts,
and Nutty Butter without Nuts!
Breakout Products: Crazy Cashew Milk and a Nut-Free PB Swap!
HG ALERT! These incredible new finds are worth seeking out...

So Delicious Dairy Free Unsweetened Cashew Milk Beverage - If you're on the search for a new milk swap that's low in calories and high in deliciousness, look no further. This cashew-based milk drink from So Delicious is SO creamy and amazing. It's also free of dairy and soy. In Original and Vanilla, each cup has 35 calories and 3.5g fat (PointsPlus® value 1*). Just like our beloved Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze, that's less than half the calories of fat-free dairy milk. Look for it at Whole Foods and other supermarkets nationwide. (It's brand-new, but it's out there.) HOORAY!

The Sneaky Chef Creamy No-Nut Butter - Talk about unique... This spread tastes like peanut butter, yet it's made with golden peas! Perfect for anyone who's allergic to peanuts or just craving something new and special. It's not low in fat (the fat count is about halfway between that of regular PB and the reduced-fat kind), but it tastes REALLY good... Just watch those portions. A 2-tbsp. serving has 190 calories and 14g fat (PointsPlus® value 5*). It's currently at only a few Whole Foods locations on the East Coast, but you can order online. Side note: The Sneaky Chef's veggie-packed pasta sauces are also VERY yummy.

The Buzz…
Looking for a smart snack or morning mini meal at Subway? Check out the new Greek yogurt parfait! The YoCrunch Yopa! treat features real strawberries and nine-grain granola, and each 5.3-oz. container has 190 calories and 2g fat (PointsPlus® value 5*). Best of all, the granola comes in its own little compartment (without it, the parfait has 110 calories), so you can add as much or as little as you like. ***GREAT news from the world of Hostess: Now that Twinkies are officially back on shelves, the company is reportedly planning to develop healthier products like lower-calorie snack packs, whole-grain goodies, gluten-free items, and stevia-sweetened treats. We L.O.V.E. this idea and have our fingers and toes crossed for the return of those 100-calorie cupcake packs! ***A new study found that while the percentage of Americans getting enough exercise increased between 2001 and 2009 (YAY!), the rate of obesity went up as well (AW, MAN!). Consider this an important reminder: Physical activity alone isn't enough for weight management... We've gotta watch our diets too. ***Get this: There's a new all-natural soda that's low in calories... and it's packed with fiber! Natural Jones Soda comes in tasty flavors like Green Apple and Cherry, each with 30 calories and 5g fiber per bottle. It's currently available in California at stores like Whole Foods and Albertsons. We hope it goes nationwide soon... And that's all we've got. HG out!
