The Hip New Chips!
Spotted on Shelves...
Van's Natural Foods Gluten Free Baked Multigrain Chips - When it comes to gluten-free snacking, we turn straight to Van's. These crispy treats are the newest additions to the GF lineup, and they sound incredible! In Mighty Good BBQ! and Nacho, Nacho Man!, each serving (30g, about 15 chips) has 130 calories, 4.5g fat, 200 - 210mg sodium, 21 - 22g carbs, 1g fiber, 3 - 4g sugars, and 2g protein (PointsPlus® value 4*). Click to locate!

Dunkin' Donuts Bakery Series Ground Coffee - Love Dunkin' Donuts coffee? Join the club... especially since the club is now stocked with brew-at-home java that tastes JUST like decadent baked goods! Try Blueberry Muffin (an HG favorite), Caramel Coffee Cake, Old Fashioned Donut, Jelly Donut (crazy delicious), and Chocolate Glazed Donut. The coffee itself is basically calorie-free... just be smart about the add-ins. Click to find it near you.

Torani Sugar Free Belgian Cookie Speculoos Syrup - Fans of the cookies known as speculoos (and the cookie butter made from them) who are looking for a low-calorie fix, take note! A 2-tbsp. serving of this yummy new syrup has only 5 calories and 5mg sodium (PointsPlus® value 0)*. A small amount adds sweet flavor to blended beverages, hot drinks, oatmeal, and more. Order it online, or find it in Cost Plus World Market locations nationwide!

HG Spotlight: Laura's Kitchen Products!
The makers of Laura's Lean Beef are branching out with a whole line of nutritious ready-to-eat products. And as you may suspect since we're running an entire story on them, they're AWESOME! These are currently available in select states (click to locate), but we hope they go nationwide soon! Here's the 411...

Deli Meats - Mmmm! These thick-cut slices are all-natural, extra-lean, and really flavorful. There's Roast Turkey Breast, Uncured Smoked Ham, Roast Beef, Uncured Corned Beef, and Uncured Beef Pastrami. Each 2-oz. serving has 60 - 80 calories, 0.5 - 2g fat, 280 - 390mg sodium, 1 - 2g carbs, 0 - 1g fiber, 0 - 1g sugars, and 11 - 14g protein (PointsPlus® value 1 - 2*). Low-fat corned beef and pastrami? Excellent!

Soups - We tried three of these: Beef Stew, Steak Chili with Red Beans, and Chicken Noodle Soup, and here's the scoop. The stew (1 cup = 220 calories, 7g fat, PointsPlus® value 5*) has lovely pieces of potatoes and veggies, and there's a bit of wine in the base that boosts the flavor. FANCY. The chili (1 cup = 230 calories, 7g fat, PointsPlus® value 6*) is very yummy, although not very chunky. And we're hopelessly in love with the chicken soup (1 cup = 100 calories, 2.5g fat, PointsPlus® value 3*). It tastes exactly the way a good chicken noodle soup should!

The new lineup also has a couple of entrées that tout more protein, less fat, and less sodium than most prepared foods. Way to go, Laura!

Beyond Beef!

Inspect These Gadgets!
New & Upcoming Tools to Help You Live Better!
Who doesn't love a little sci-fi-style fun in their fitness routine? First up, the new Fitbit Force is a wristband that tracks your steps, distance, calorie burn... even the quality of your sleep. WOW. And we're majorly interested in the new AIRO wristband, which not only tracks your exercise, nutrition, and sleep, but also watches your stress levels. Whoa! Finally, the wildest one of all... Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh are working on clothing embedded with tiny cameras that can calculate your caloric intake. Yes, we're serious. We're not sure if easy food tracking is worth covering ourselves with microcameras, but to each his own. Click here for a video chock-full of more fitness gadgets, courtesy of USA Today.

The Buzz...
What's more satisfying: hot cereal or cold? A recent study asked subjects to rate their hunger, fullness, and desire to eat four hours after having either oatmeal or cold cereal. The oatmeal group had higher perceptions of fullness and lower levels of hunger and desire to eat. Time for a growing oatmeal bowl! ***Think fresh fruits and veggies are always more nutritious than frozen? According to new research, they aren't in some cases! Two studies found some nutritional advantages to frozen-produce samples from UK supermarkets. For example, while the fresh spinach was higher in vitamin C, the frozen kind retained more lutein. The research was commissioned by the British Frozen Food Federation, but we're intrigued nonetheless! ***Ever since Keurig's patent on the famed K-Cup expired last year, unlicensed copycats have sprung up everywhere. To combat this, the company has announced that knockoff cups will not work with its new Keurig 2.0 system. So if you love all those other brands of coffee pods, hold on to your old machine! ***Last but not least, holiday-party season is officially upon us, and Hungry Girl is here to help you keep it guilt-free. Check out the December issue of Redbook (in stores now) and learn how to build a better-for-you party plate. Click here for the online version. And that's all we've got. HG out!
