A new study from the University of Illinois finds that freshman girls know how to eat right and know that they should... but they don't feel confident that they can and will. Maggiano's Little Italy, and its Lighter Take menu, featuring reduced-calorie versions of several standard menu items. While we love the idea behind this, we can't be totally stoked, because some of the calorie counts are still crazy high. The Lighter Take Veal Parmesan has 1,100 calories and 52g fat, the Lighter Take Chicken Saltimbocca has 790 calories and 42g fat, and the Baked Ziti has 950 calories and 46g fat, just to name a few. Um... HUH?! ***Speaking of efforts to lighten up Italian eats, Pizza Hut is testing a new Skinny Slice pizza, with 300 or fewer calories per slice. (Sadly, you cannot get it BY the slice.) But according to this Associated Press article, Skinny Slice pies have more calories than their under-the-radar Fit 'N Delicious pizzas, which Skinny Slice will replace if successful.
