Hungry Girl Today: 1.12.15

Spotted on Shelves...
Dannon Oikos Triple Zero - Want a super-charged snack? This is the official yogurt of the NFL. It has no fat, no added sugar, and no artificial sweeteners. Sweetened with stevia, it's also protein packed with a fiber boost. In Vanilla, Coconut Crème, Strawberry, Banana Crème, Mixed Berry, and Peach, each 5.3-oz. container has 120 calories, 0g fat, 65mg sodium, 15g carbs, 6g fiber, 7g sugars, and 15g protein (PointsPlus® value 3*). It's just rolling out, so keep an eye on the dairy aisle.

Van’s Gluten Free Pasta Sides - Check this out: pasta made with whole grains, lentils, and brown rice, all boxed up with easy-to-make sauces. Choose from Creamy Herb & Garlic Pasta, Rotini & Red Sauce Pasta, and Ultimate Cheddar Penne. As packaged, each serving has 210 - 250 calories, 2.5 - 3.5g fat, 160 - 520mg sodium, 44 - 52g carbs, 2 - 4g fiber, 2 - 3g sugars, and 6 - 12g protein (PointsPlus® value 6 - 7*). Stick with light butter when making the sauce to keep calorie counts down -- easy! At Walmart and select natural-food retailers.

Krave Artisanal Jerky - For a snack traditionally eaten on hikes and long car rides, this line from the jerky gurus at Krave sounds faaaancy. The flavors? Chardonnay Thyme Turkey, Honey Peach Barbecue Pork, Five Peppercorn Beef, Sesame Ginger Beef, and Cabernet Rosemary Beef. Mmmm... Eat an ounce for 80 - 90 calories, 0 - 2.5g fat, 160 - 440mg sodium, 7 - 9g carbs, <1 - 1g fiber, 7 - 8g sugars, and 10 - 12g protein (PointsPlus® value 2*). At Whole Foods locations nationwide, and available online.

There's a lot of buzz surrounding "fast food's first All-Natural Burger." Here's everything you need to know...

1. Only the patty is all-natural. Despite the hype, the fine print states "All-Natural attributes refer to beef patty." The cheese is described as natural, but the bun and condiments are the usual fast-food fare. So if a strictly all-natural diet is important to you, this isn't exactly your dream burger.

2. Ordered as is, the Single All-Natural Burger has 760 calories and 44g fat (PointsPlus® value 21*). Worse: The Double has 1,030 calories and 64g fat (PointsPlus® value 28*)! Not exactly what we'd call a healthy choice.

3. It is possible to get a version that's both guilt-free and all-natural: Order the single patty (no cheese) in a lettuce wrap with onion and tomato for about 230 calories and 12g fat (PointsPlus® value 6*). If you're okay with some condiments not labeled all-natural, feel free to add pickles, ketchup, and mustard, bringing your total to around 250 calories and 13g fat (PointsPlus® value 6*).

The Buzz…
We're sometimes disappointed by so-called light menus, but Applebee's new Pub Diet menu looks pretty impressive. Each entrée has under 600 calories and is packed with protein. One peek at the Pepper-Crusted Sirloin & Whole Grains (350 calories, 9g fat, and a PointsPlus® value of 9*) has us searching for the nearest location... ***A new Starbucks drink has entered the arena: The Flat White! Think of it as a latte with more espresso and less milk. Yum, right? And a Tall (12 oz.) made with nonfat milk has just 100 calories (PointsPlus® value 3*). Perhaps we'll swing by after Applebee's... ***The Greatist recently released its annual "The 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness" list... and HG Lisa is number twenty-two! Congrats to HG pal Dr. Oz for landing the number-two spot. Click here to check out all the honorees... ***Craving a treat? Good news -- Baskin-Robbins has a new lightened-up flavor: Premium Churned Reduced-Fat, No Sugar Added Caramel Turtle Truffle Ice Cream. The name is certainly a mouthful! A small order (2.5 oz.) has just 120 calories and 5g fat (PointsPlus® value 4*). Available for a limited time only... ***And if you're in the midst of dropping some pounds in the New Year, here's a tip: A new study found that consuming whey protein powder could keep you from losing muscle mass as you shed excess fat. Pretty awesome, especially since it's an option on the Hungry Girl Diet plan... And that's all we've got. HG out!
