I'm a healthy eater (for the most part), but I cannot resist the Shamrock Shake at McDonald's. Can you please, please, please come up with a smart recipe swap?

I feel your pain... I don't usually like minty sweets, but that creamy, vanilla, hint-of-mint Shamrock Shake is pretty irresistible! Sadly, the stats are a major doozy: Even the small 12-oz. shake has 530 calories and 15g fat (PointsPlus® value 14*)! We actually came up with a low-cal swap back in '09, but since then, we've really stepped up our game in terms of using healthier ingredients. So when your question came in, we set out to remake it, and get this: The new version is even lower in calories than our first swap and crammed with protein! BTW, I promise you cannot taste the spinach...

HG's Clean & Green Shamrock Shake
Entire recipe (about 16 oz.): 133 calories, 4g fat, 210mg sodium, 6g carbs, 1g fiber, 1.5g sugars, 20g protein -- PointsPlus® value 3*

Ingredients:
3/4 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze
1 oz. (about 6 tbsp.) vanilla protein powder with about 100 calories per serving (like the kind by Tera's Whey)
1/3 cup spinach leaves
1/8 tsp. peppermint extract
1 1/4 cups crushed ice or 6 - 10 ice cubes

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend at high speed until smooth, stopping and stirring if needed.

MAKES 1 SERVING
