Strawberry Margaritas = Health Food?

We LOVE this story! Recent findings by U.S. and Thai researchers suggest
that combining ethanol (the type of alcohol found in rum, vodka, tequila,
etc.) with strawberries and blackberries actually boosts the activity of the
antioxidants in the fruits. In fact, they say ANY colored fruit might be more
healthful with the addition of a splash of alcohol (and lucky for us, we can't
think of too many colorless fruits!). The researchers accidentally learned that
treating berries with alcohol increased their antioxidant capacity and free-
radical scavenging ability (both very good things) while exploring ways to
help keep strawberries fresh during storage. It could be time to blend up
some fancy 'n fruity daiquiris. Just be sure to use lots of fresh fruit and go
easy on the sweet mixers! BTW -- we don't recommend dousing all your fruit
in alcohol, but if you're gonna indulge in some cocktails, it's good to know
you'll be getting the most out of your fruit!

Stuff You Didn't Know You Needed...

Choc-U-Lator - We've all seen chocolate bars shaped like household items.
Those are old hat (and fattening!). This find, however, is cutting edge, super-
cute and completely free of calories. It's an actual working calculator that is
shaped like, and SMELLS like, a bar of chocolate! It even comes in a little foil-
wrapped package. Our heads almost fell off when we viewed this thing! It's
sold on a Japanese site, and doesn't appear to be available for purchase in
the States yet. If anyone reads Japanese and can tell us how to get one of
these funky gadgets we'll gladly share the info with the rest of you!

whites from the yolks, it will likely make you giggle like a third grader EVERY

spared you the pic. To see it, click here. Click at your own risk (but we highly
recommend you go for it!).

can and all that bending -- ugh!). This unique new Gardener's Pouch has lots
of pockets and space for veggies, tools and debris -- and a convenient one-
zip way to empty it! This handy gadget may cut down your workload but
you'll still burn LOTS of calories! (Pssst...people who do yard work are
FLIPPING over this thing!)

The Buzz...

Scientists at the University of Florida just released a new study that highlights
the fact that pink grapefruit juice provides more nutrients per calorie than
the other 6 commonly consumed, 100-percent fruit juices (apple, grape,
orange, pineapple, prune and white grapefruit). Go pink! ***Hey, if you
looove Vertigo lollipops as much as we do, you'll be thrilled to know they're
releasing a brand-new CHOCOLATE MINT version in time for the holidays.
You'll have to wait a while for it (just after Halloween), but we were so
excited that we wanted to share the news with you NOW! ***HG hit its
250,000 subscriber mark late last week (YAY US!), and we celebrated with a
staff dinner at the fancy schmancy seafood chain McCormick & Schmick's.
When the adorably thoughtful chef heard we were coming in, he went to our
website, learned we had declared it National Zucchini Day, and presented us
with a platter of yummy grilled zucchini upon our arrival. Thanks, M & S!!!!
***Looking for a way to show mom you love her? Get her healthy and
delicious CHOCOLATE! Vitalicious has put together a limited edition chocolate
pack that features TONS of their choco-rific products (including the
discontinued, HG-developed Banana Fudge VitaTops for the first 800
orders!). Get 'em while you can! That's all we've got. HG out!
