GIRLS BITE OUT



Whether you're the one throwing the bash or you just want to bring along

something to a pal's party, there's no reason that party food can't be

Bacon-Bundled BBQ Shrimp

PER SERVING (4 pieces): 116 calories, 1.75g fat, 587mg sodium, 7g carbs,

<0.5g fiber, 6g sugars, 16g protein -- POINTS® value 2*



HG's spin on a super-decadent appetizer that everyone'll love...



Ingredients:

16 large (not jumbo) raw shrimp; peeled, deveined, tails removed

8 slices Jennie-O Extra Lean Turkey Bacon

1/3 cup canned tomato sauce

3 tbsp. ketchup

1 tbsp. brown sugar (not packed)

1 tbsp. cider vinegar

1/2 - 1 tsp. garlic powder (depending on how garlicky you want 'em)



Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.



Cut bacon slices in half and set aside. Mix together tomato sauce, ketchup,

sugar, vinegar, and garlic powder. Lightly spray a baking pan with nonstick

spray.



Take one piece of bacon (half a slice), and coat it in the sauce. Wrap the

sauce-covered bacon around a piece of shrimp, and place it seam side down

on the baking pan. Repeat with the rest of the bacon and shrimp, and then

give them a quick mist with nonstick spray.



Place pan in the oven and cook until shrimp are cooked through and bacon is

crispy (about 10 - 15 minutes).

Standard party staples get tricked out by HG...



Slimmed Down Chips 'n Dip - For an easy, guilt-free take on classic chips 'n

dip, grab a few bags of baked tortilla chips (in different colors and flavors!).

We like Guiltless Gourmet's Spicy Black Bean and Chipotle ones -- you can

have about 18 of those chips for just 120 calories and 3g fat (POINTS® value

2*). Then serve up a bunch of fun salsas to go with 'em (salsa is fat-free and

low in calories). We're currently obsessed with the award-winning Fruit and

Gourmet Salsas by Traverse Bay Farms (so many varieties!), but you can

also usually find a pretty good selection at most supermarkets. You could

also serve your chips with some of HG's guilt-free dips, like our Rockin'

Restaurant Spinach Dip, Amazing ATE-Layer Dip, and Creamy-Good Eggplant

Dip. MMMM!





Cheese 'n Crackers Gone Guilt-Free - Who doesn't love crispy crackers

slathered with soft cheese? As good as that stuff is, each tiny ounce of full-fat

cheese contains around 100 calories and 8g fat! Luckily, HG has the perfect

fix for this party food. Set out a selection of The Laughing Cow Light Cheese

Wedges (if you unwrap 'em, no one will EVER know they aren't fancy, fatty

soft cheeses!). Those creamy triangular cheeses come in Light Original

Swiss, Light French Onion, and Light Garlic & Herb, and each generous wedge

has only 35 calories and 2g of fat (POINTS® value 1*). Then serve those

suckers with skinny, seasoned rice crackers. Our faves are the ones by

Crunchmaster -- they come in a bunch of awesome flavors and have just

130 calories and 2g of fat in each enormous 16-cracker serving (POINTS®

value 3*).





A Pumped Up Veggie Platter - Sure celery sticks and baby carrots are good

for you, but they can also be boooring when it comes to a party platter. Jazz

up your crudité display with sliced jicama, snow peas, cherry tomatoes, and

sweet bell pepper strips in red, yellow, and orange. And who says you have

to go all raw? Steam up some asparagus stalks and sprinkle 'em with lemon

pepper seasoning, or grill some thin eggplant slices with nonstick spray and

serve them rolled up with toothpicks. Then add any of those rockin' dips or

salsas from the Chips 'n Dip section, and you're ready to go!
