GIRLS BITE OUT

These twin (and in one case, triplet!) items can be tough to tell apart, so we
put 'em to the test. Here's the 411...

LesserEvil Krinkle Sticks vs. Glenny's American Fries

Nutritionals:
1 oz. (about 1 cup) of Krinkle Sticks has 110 calories, 2.5g fat, 230 - 320mg
sodium, 20g carbs, 2g fiber, 0 - 2g sugars, and 2g protein (POINTS® value
2*).

A 1.2-oz. bag of American Fries has 120 calories, 3 - 4g fat, 260 - 350mg
sodium, 18 - 20g carbs, 1 - 2g fiber, 0 - 2g sugars, and 2g protein (POINTS®
value 2 - 3*).

Slightly more impressive stats from Krinkle Sticks, considering all the flavors
have a full 2g fiber and only 2.5g fat per serving.

Flavors: Krinkle Sticks come in Classic SeaSalt, SourCream & Onion, Old
School Bar-B-Que, and Cajun Kaboom!. American Fries come in Sea Salt,
Yellow Cheddar, and Ketchup. LesserEvil gets credit for having more flavor
options, and Glenny's loses points for their icky, fake-tasting Yellow Cheddar.
But the American Fries do come in the best flavor overall (the Ketchup).

Taste: These french-fry-shaped, baked-not-fried potato snacks are similar in
the taste department. But the Krinkle Sticks taste better overall. And while all
the Krinkle Sticks flavors are great, we're only fans of the ketchup-flavored
American Fries.

Bottom Line: Krinkle Sticks have been around for a lot longer than American
Fries, and we're pretty loyal to our snacks. And even so, Glenny's hasn't
quite mastered the guilt-free fry the way LesserEvil has. But Glenny's did
answer our prayers with their Ketchup American Fries -- let's hope LesserEvil
follows their lead.

Lean Cuisine Panini Sandwiches vs. Healthy Choice Panini Sandwiches

Nutritionals:
One (6-oz.) Lean Cuisine Panini has 320 - 350 calories, 7 - 9g fat, 590 -
830mg sodium, 41 - 44g carbs, 3 - 6g fiber, 3 - 8g sugars, and 21 - 24g
protein (POINTS® value 6 - 7*). (FYI, these stats have recently changed, so
you may see boxes with different nutritional info. But these stats are the
most current, taken from the Lean Cuisine website.)

A Healthy Choice Panini (also 6 oz.) has 300 - 310 calories, 4 - 5g fat, 580 -
600mg sodium, 40 - 45g carbs, 5 - 6g fiber, 2 - 5g sugars, and 23 - 25g
protein (POINTS® value 6*), plus lots of whole grains, which we like.

Healthy Choice takes this category for their lower fat counts, higher fiber,
and healthy whole grains (and the lower sodium range doesn't hurt either).

Flavors: Lean Cuisine offers their panini sandwiches in six varieties -- Steak,
Cheddar & Mushroom; Chicken Club; Chicken, Spinach & Mushrooms;
Southwest-style Chicken; Philly-style Steak & Cheese; and Chicken Tuscan.
Six kinds also come from Healthy Choice -- Chicken Artichoke; Chicken
Basil; Philly Cheese Steak; Smoked Chicken; Smokehouse Apple & Chicken;
and Tomato Basil & Mozzarella. All of these flavors are fun and creative, but
kudos to Healthy Choice for offering a vegetarian option (the Tomato Basil &
Mozzarella).

Taste: These crunchy microwavable sandwiches are practically identical in
taste. Both crisp up perfectly and are packed with flavor. In fact, we'd have a
tough time telling them apart if we were blindfolded. (Come to think of it, if
we were blindfolded, we'd have a tough time even finding 'em on our plate!)

Bottom Line: Both panini lines are great. Vegetarians will favor Healthy
Choice's -- but we say both brands ROCK!

Wish-Bone Salad Spritzers vs. Ken's Lite Accents vs. Newman's Own All
Natural Salad Mist

Nutritionals:
10 sprays of Wish-Bone's Spritzers contain 10 - 15 calories, 0.5 - 1g fat, 70 -
130mg sodium, <1 - 2g carbs, 0g fiber, <1 - 1g sugars, and 0g protein
(POINTS® value 0*).

A 10-spray serving of Ken's Lite Accents has 10 - 15 calories, 0 - 1g fat, 35 -
135mg sodium, 1 - 2g carbs, 0g fiber, 1 - 2g sugars, and 0g protein
(POINTS® value 0*).

And each 10-spray serving of Newman's Own Mist has 10 - 15 calories, 0.5 -
1g fat, 100 - 120mg sodium, 1 - 2g carbs, 0g fiber, 0 - 1g sugars, and 0g
protein (POINTS® value 0*).

So, pretty much the same across the board. However, the Newman's Own
sprays are the only all-natural ones.

Flavors: Wish-Bone offers seven spray vinaigrettes -- Balsamic Breeze,
Italian, Red Wine Mist, Caesar Delight, French Flair, Raspberry Bliss, and
Asian Silk. The Ken's vinaigrette sprays come in Asian, Balsamic, Honey
Mustard, Italian, and Raspberry Walnut. The Newman's Own spritzables are
available in Balsamic, Tuscan Italian, and Asian Sesame. Wish-Bone and
Ken's may have the most variety, but the Newman's Own three-flavor
selection is fantastic, too.

Taste: We've sprayed nearly every single variety of these portion-controlled
spray dressings, and they are all extremely good. Basically, all three brands
offer excellent-tasting options. Our favorites are Wish-Bone Asian Silk, Ken's
Honey Mustard, and Newman's Own Balsamic.

Bottom Line: Our close, personal friends at Wish-Bone kicked off this spray
dressing trend, so props to them for that. And we find it impressive that
Newman came along and offered up an all-natural option for those who avoid
artificial ingredients. But we think there's room for all three companies'
creations on store shelves and in fridge doors. The more the merrier!

Fiber One Original Bran Cereal vs. All-Bran Original Natural Wheat Bran High
Fiber Cereal

Nutritionals:
A half-cup serving of Fiber One has 60 calories, 1g fat, 105mg sodium, 25g
carbs, 14g fiber, 0g sugars, and 2g protein (POINTS® value 0 - 1* -- it's
right on the line).

Half a cup of All-Bran has 80 calories, 1g fat, 80mg sodium, 23g carbs, 10g
fiber, 6g sugars, and 4g protein (POINTS® value 1*).

Calorie and sugar counters will appreciate Fiber One's numbers -- plus, F1
has 4 extra grams of fiber. Protein seekers and those totally opposed to
artificial sweeteners (Fiber One is lightly sweetened with aspartame) may
prefer All-Bran's stats.

Flavors: We're sticking strictly with the original flavors for this comparison.
But for the record, Fiber One also comes in Honey Clusters, Raisin Bran
Clusters, and Caramel Delight. All-Bran has the following varieties -- Extra
Fiber, Bran Buds, Complete Wheat Flakes, Yogurt Bites, and Strawberry
Medley. Keep in mind, those all have different nutritionals than the original
cereals... WAY different.

Taste: We've been OBSESSED with Fiber One forever. So to be fair, we went
out and bought a brand-new box of All-Bran for a side-by-side taste test. Just
as we remembered, All-Bran has a hay-like texture -- we find it dry and
unappealing. While Fiber One is slightly sweet and perfectly crunchy, All-Bran
tastes a lot like cardboard. Do not confuse these two!

Bottom Line: It's no secret that we're Fiber One fanatics. Fiber One tastes
better, has fewer calories, and contains more fiber. But F1 is more than just
cereal -- it's also the ultimate ingredient for making faux-fried foods, pie
crusts, dessert toppings, parfaits, and more. All-Bran just can't hold a candle
to the #1 bran cereal in the biz. Sorry!
