ASK HUNGRY GIRL

Dear Hungry Girl,

I love your recipes. What is the most popular HG recipe ever? Which are
your personal favorites? And when is your recipe book coming out again?

Hungry for HG Recipes

Dear Hungry,

Thanks!!! So glad you like the recipes. As for the most popular HG recipe
ever -- it has to be the Fettuccine Hungry Girlfredo (and of course, it uses the
world-famous Tofu Shirataki noodles!!!). It has been viewed hundreds of
thousands of times, and I continue to get emails about it every week. It's a
good one, for sure (uhhh, Fettuccine Alfredo for about 80
calories...HELLO!?!?!!?) -- and it's definitely one of my favorites. I also
LOOOOVE any of the recipes that use blended Fiber One "breadcrumbs" --
like the onion rings and chicken strips recipes. They are insanely good and
super-healthy! Other super-popular HG recipes include our original low-
calorie margarita, chocolate peanut butter fudge, nachos, and the cookies &
cream shake. As for the book -- and I know I've mentioned this a few times
before, but I am still getting so much email about it I don't mind answering
this Q again -- it'll be out in the spring of 2008. And I am extremely excited
about it 'cuz it will feature over 150 amazing recipes (some classics and
some brand-new ones!) as well as tons of fun and useful HG stuff (like
survival guides and more). Thanks for checking in!

Dear Hungry Girl,

When I measure out a half-cup of ice cream, should I pack down the ice
cream tightly or put it lightly in the cup?

Ice Cream Queen

Dear Ice Cream Queen,

Great question! So great, in fact, that I felt the need to experiment and find
out the answer for myself. The results were slightly depressing. A pint of ice
cream does not hold 4 tightly packed half-cup servings. The serving size
listed on the ice cream carton refers to lightly packed ice cream. Waaaaah! I
know it's tempting to count your tightly packed half-cup of ice cream as one
serving, but don't do it! (And unfortunately, now that you've read this,
ignorance is no longer a valid excuse.) When you're scooping out ice cream,
spoon out around 1/4th of the carton if it's a pint, and 1/16th of the carton if
it's a half-gallon. If you think that sounds like an impossible task, opt for a
diet-friendly, individually wrapped, single-serving frozen treat. Some of my
favorites are the Smart Ones Giant Cookies & Cream Bar, Skinny Cow ice
cream sandwiches and any of the reduced calorie fudge bars. Yum!
