NEWS

On The Way...

Burger King 100 Calorie Snacks - Hey, BK! YOU'RE hopping on the 100-
calorie bus, too? It's getting mighty crowded on that vehicle, but there's
always room for a good idea. This fall, keep an eye out for little 100-calorie
packs of Ketchup & Fries Flavored Potato Snacks (as well as flame-broiled
burger flavored ones) at select BK locations. Ketchup and fries for 100
calories?! We LOVE that! They'll also be rolling out bags of these snacks in a
variety of sizes to be sold at grocery stores, convenience stores, vending
machines and more. You might even be offered a pack on an upcoming
flight. Cool!

Lower-Calorie Gatorade - Yep, it's true. A reduced-calorie Gatorade is on the
way. We don't have many details yet, but we'll be following this story and
giving the stuff a shot. We're big fans of regular Gatorade, and while we
don't drink it daily, it happens to be the BEST thing on EARTH to sip when
you're feeling queasy or getting over a stomach virus. Bet you didn't know
that...

Silk Pumpkin Spice Soymilk - The creative geniuses over at Silk are at it
again. This fall, expect to see a holiday-tastic Pumpkin Spice version of their
super soymilk. It has 170 calories a cup (and 3.5g fat), so while we don't
recommend guzzling it straight, it'll certainly zazzle-up coffee drinks like
nobody's business. We know -- we've tried it. It's head-explodingly fantastic.
And luckily, a little of the stuff goes a loooong way!

Walk This Way...

OK, we are officially OBSESSED with walkscore.com. OB-SESSED! Type in an
address, and it'll rate its "walkability" (meaning how many places are so
close by that you can easily walk to them) on a scale of 1 to 100, factoring in
restaurants, bookstores, shopping centers, etc. It also instantly lists specific
locations and their distances. SO COOL! HG's house scored a big fat 0
(bummer!), but the HG HQ scored a 68 (not too shabby). Click here to
search your relevant addresses. Just a warning, you may spend WAY too
much time on this site. They even offer the Walk Scores of celebrity
locations, like the White House and the Brady Bunch house. BTW, research
has shown that the average resident of a pedestrian-friendly, walkable
neighborhood weighs 7 pounds less than someone who lives in a sprawling
neighborhood. And people who live in walkable neighborhoods tend to drive
less, resulting in fewer car accidents. Interesting stuff!

skip it.

Joining the Thin Club: Tips For Toning Your Mind After You've Trimmed Your
Body - How does life change after you drop lots of weight? Author Judith
Lederman sure knows. She dropped around 90 lbs. This book is NOT a diet
book, but it is FANTASTIC for anyone who has lost weight and now faces the
challenges of life in the thin lane (yes, there are many). Topics covered
include the dreaded "yo-yoing" of your weight once you've reached your
goal, embracing the new you, dealing with temptation, and eliminating stress
that could cause you to put the weight back on. Check it out!

Dr. David Katz's Flavor-Full Diet: Use Your Taste Buds to Lose Pounds and
Inches with This Scientifically Proven Plan - Dr. K's groundbreaking approach

sensible and smart. In short, he ROCKS. There are some good ideas and
recipes here, people! It won't officially be released 'til late August, but you

The Buzz...

Watermelon on tour? Now we've heard it all! There's still time to catch celeb
chef Harry Schwartz and his kooky watermelon bus on the road. Harry is
travelling around fighting the childhood obesity epidemic by touting healthy
cooking and the benefits of eating watermelon. For dates, recipes and more,
click here. ***Researchers in Germany have found that drinking water can
actually speed up your metabolism. They say after drinking two cups of
water, their test subjects' metabolisms soared by 30% and stayed at that
elevated rate for 30-40 minutes. H2-OMG!!! ***Soooo, rumor has it nutrition
labels may start to show up on bottles of alcohol. That would be GREAT, but
we'll believe it when we see it. ***Now it's even easier to use your Nike+
iPod Sport Kit with ANY shoes. Instead of buying those fancy Nike sneakers
with the built-in pouch for the sensor, just pick up one of these new Shoe
Pouches for 7 bucks. Weeeee! That's all we've got. HG out!
