Spotted on Shelves...

High Fiber V8 100% Vegetable Juice - It's the 75th anniversary of V8, and
this veggie-rific beverage is still kickin'! We've heard there's a new high-fiber
version (60 calories, 0g fat, 5g fiber, and a POINTS® value of 0* per 8-oz.
serving) hitting shelves now.

Kellogg's Cereal Grab ‘N Go Packs - If you still love sugary cereals as much
as you did when you were a kid, but you're afraid you'll down an entire box
in one sitting, these portion-controlled pouches might interest you. Available
in Froot Loops (90 calories, 0.5g fat, <1g fiber -- POINTS® value 2*) and
Corn Pops (70 calories, 0g fat, 0g fiber -- POINTS® value 1*). We like to
toss ‘em onto our fat-free yogurt. Mmmmm!

All-Bran Strawberry Medley Cereal - Just to balance out our promotion of
sugary cereal, here's a healthier one, featuring bran flakes and squares,
granola clusters, and real (freeze-dried) strawberries. This fiber-packed stuff
clocks in with 170 calories, 1.5g fat, and 10g fiber per cup (POINTS® value
3*).
75 Years of Drinkable Vegetables… Weeeee!

Secret Nutritionals To Be EXPOSED?!?!

Remember the NYC push to get calorie counts posted on menus at chain
restaurants? The rule flopped in the courtroom, since it was deemed unfair
that only the restaurants already listing their nutritionals online had to
comply. Some of those restaurants even rebelled by yanking nutritional info
from their websites (ANNOYING!). Well the plan is back -- and it's better. The
new NYC regulation (due to go into effect on March 31st) applies to ANY
chain with at least 15 separate outlets, INCLUDING those that don't currently
provide any nutritional info. So it looks like we could all be learning the
calorie and fat counts from chains that currently keep that information under
wraps -- places like T.G.I. Friday's and IHOP. Yowsa! More on this as the
story develops...

February Is Heart Month...

Lots of celeb-centric, ticker-related red dress stuff going on this Feb., people!

Diet Coke & Heidi Klum - They go together like peanut butter & jelly! Okay,
maybe not -- but they're teaming up to raise money for women's heart
health awareness and research. Heidi will wear a red dress (the national
symbol for women and heart disease awareness) to the Academy Awards,
and you can enter for a chance to win it. The original John Galliano couture
dress is valued at about $6,000... fancy! Diet Coke will contribute $1 for each
entry (up to $250,000) to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health.
Click here for the full scoop, and be on the lookout for Diet Coke's new
packaging promoting heart health.

Campbell's & Toni Braxton - Designer Lisa Perry created THREE red dress
designs for Toni (who is a heart disease survivor), inspired by Campbell's
Soup. Braxton revealed the online voters' favorite at the Woman's Day Red
Dress Awards this past Thursday. Campbell's is donating $1 to the American
Heart Association for each vote that was cast. And NOW they're donating an
additional buck (up to $75,000) for every click on the winning design, from
now until mid-April. So go click-crazy for heart health!
Diet Coke -- Good for Heart Health?

The Buzz...

Quiznos may have some crazy-high-cal stuff on their menu, but they JUST
introduced a couple of totally reasonable FLATBREAD SAMMIES with only
around 200 calories each. Available in Balsamic Chicken (190 calories, 3.5g
fat, 1g fiber -- POINTS® value 4*) and Black Angus Steak (200 calories, 4g
fat, 1g fiber -- POINTS® value 4*), these lil' flatbread-wrapped sandwiches
sell for just two bucks. (Just be careful when ordering -- the other Sammies
have way more calories, unless you special order them without cheese and
dressing.) We tried 'em... YUMMMMM! Go, Quiznos! ***Heads up, VitaMuffin
fans! The limited-time-only Deep Chocolate VitaMuffin Lovin' Hearts are now
on sale! Each super-cute 100-calorie treat has only 1.5g fat and a whopping
6g fiber (POINTS® value 1*). Get your orders in now... they come in a
pretty red box and make a great guilt-free Valentine's Day gift! ***Speaking
of Valentine's Day, if your sweetie watches his or her sugar intake, you'll be
happy to know that those cute little conversation hearts now come in a
Splenda-sweetened version. Woohoo! ***Miller Brewing is planning to roll
out a brand-new, 64-calorie light beer targeted at women. Keep an eye out
for Miller Genuine Draft Light 64... ***A new food "scoring" method is on the
way. Later this year, the Overall Nutritional Quality Index (ONQI), a system
that will provide us with an at-a-glance ranking of nutritional info and food
comparisons, will be available in thousands of grocery stores. We're
intrigued. That's all we've got. HG out!
