Hungry Girl Today: 4.10.08

WEEKLY WEIGH-IN

Mini reviews. Brand-new chews (and a drink, but that doesn't rhyme)...

Strawberry Chex Cereal

PER SERVING (3/4 cup): 130 calories, 2g fat, 200mg sodium, 26g carbs, <1g
fiber, 8g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

As you may or may not know, we're not cereal freaks over here at HG. The
general feeling is that you need too much of it to fill you up, and it often
makes you hungrier. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule (hello,
FIBER ONE!?!). The new Strawberry Chex is INSANELY good and worth
seeking out. It tastes a lot like Strawberry Nesquik, which we LOVE. This
cereal is light, crunchy, and completely strawberrylicious. It's also packed
with whole grains, vitamins, and minerals. Rather than eat a giant bowlful of
the stuff, though, we've been crushing it up by the handful and sprinkling it
on our fat-free vanilla yogurt. AWESOME!

Overall Score: 8. But if we were huge fans of cereal in general, it'd be a 10!

Weight Watchers Peanut Butter Bliss Mini Bars

PER SERVING (1 bar): 70 calories, 2g fat, 70mg sodium, 13g carbs, 3g fiber,
6g sugars, 1g protein -- POINTS® value 1

Here we go again... it's another INCREDIBLE product that's only available at
Weight Watchers meeting locations. The good news is, you don't have to be a
member to purchase it. So just drive on over, and grab a box (or three!) of
these INSANELY delicious bars. Here's the deal. Each bar has a crispy and
chewy chocolate center that's topped with a layer of peanut buttery goodness
(which is like a PB creme or mousse of some sort!), and there's a peanut
butter coating that covers it all. OMG -- these things ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

Overall Score: 10. They're perfect -- right down to their impressive 70
calories, 2g fat, 3g fiber and POINTS® value of 1 per bar!

Pizzettos, Simply Crust

PER SERVING (1.5 oz.): 170 calories, 3.5g fat, 450mg sodium, 30g carbs, 2g
fiber, 1g sugars, 5g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

These little pizza-crust chips are unique and yummy. They're crazy-crunchy
and a bit like pita chips, with a pizza crust flavor (they're actually made from
real pizza dough). They come in both single-serving and multiple-serving
bags. Thing is, they're so good that you'll want to eat the whole bag -- no
matter what size that bag is -- especially if you've got a soft spot for crispy
snacks. The other flavors (Original Pizza and Sweet Hickory Barbeque) are
good, but the Simply Crust is the best. Again, if you have trouble controlling
yourself around crunchy carbs, beware of these.

Overall Score: 7. They taste GREAT, but adding them into regular rotation is
too risky.

Fiber One Bread, Cinnamon Raisin

PER SERVING (2 slices): 140 calories, 1.5g fat, 160mg sodium, 32g carbs, 8g
fiber, 11g sugars, 4g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

Sad as it is, the new bread line from Fiber One is currently only available in
the Northeast. But emails from subscribers about F1 english muffin, bagel
and bread sightings have been pouring in by the dozens. Since we're in Los
Angeles, we can't find these bread products at stores. Luckily, our pals over
at General Mills sent a slew of 'em over for us to try. WOW -- these breads
are good. They're dense, chewy and SOOOOO delicious! The Cinnamon
Raisin Bread is our favorite because there's really nothing else like it out
there. It's sweet, doughy, and packed with raisins and cinnamon -- yet it's
still totally reasonable in the nutritional department (not to mention loaded
with fiber!).

Overall Score: 9. This bread ROCKS. Too bad it's so hard to find.

Metromint Chocolatemint Water

PER SERVING (8 oz.): 0 calories, 0g fat, 0mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g
sugars, 0g protein -- POINTS® value 0*

Never thought we'd like this stuff, people! Not only are we NOT fans of mint-
flavored water, but we also don't really like chocolate mint ANYTHING that
much. Typically, it's just a waste of calories, since the mint tends to
overpower the chocolate (in our opinion). This water, however, is calorie-
free -- so that isn't an issue. And, even better, it tastes GREAT! Also, there's
no fake chocolate flavor -- just a mild hint of cocoa with lovely cool mint
overtones. Yay!

Overall Score: 7.5. As good as it is, it's still just flavored water, and it's more
of a novelty than something we'd drink daily.
