Hungry Girl Today: 4.14.08

Spotted on Shelves

Kraft Bagel-fuls - Dream of eating cream cheese and bagels for breakfast
but can't be trusted around giant bagels and tubs of cream cheese (AHHHH!)?
Check out these on-the-go offerings -- they look like Twinkies, but are
actually bagels filled with Philadelphia cream cheese! Each one has 200
calories or less, 4 - 6g fat, and 2 - 3g fiber (POINTS® value 3 - 4*). They
come in Original (plain bagel with plain cream cheese), Cinnamon (cinnamon
and brown sugar bagel with cinnamon cream cheese), Whole Grain (whole
grain bagel with plain cream cheese), Strawberry (plain bagel with
strawberry cream cheese), and Chive (plain bagel with chive cream cheese).
They're good, people (especially the Cinnamon)! Look for them in the freezer
aisle.

Mister Salty Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels 100 Calorie Packs - OMG! We
have received a zillion emails from people who have spotted these
chocolatey pretzel treats, and we are officially jealous because they're
nowhere to be found here in Los Angeles. Mister Salty himself has informed
us that each pack has 3.5g fat and 0g fiber -- POINTS® value 2*. (BTW,
we're kidding about him informing us personally... he's a pretzel dressed like
a sailor, and as far as we know he doesn't even speak.)

Peter Pan Whipped Creamy Peanut Butter - Okay, this isn't exactly a NEW
product, but it seems that Peter P is FINALLY pushing this lightened up PB.
We're THRILLED 'cuz it has fewer calories and fat grams than the regular
stuff -- a 2-tbsp. serving has 140 calories, 12g fat, and 2g fiber (POINTS®
value 3*). And it is VERY yummy.

HG Buzz...

There's lots of Hungry Girl stuff happening this week, so we're buzzing about
ourselves (hope that's okay!).

HG Tour Chatter & Important Date Change - As you may or may not know,
the HG book is on pre-sale right now, and the official tour dates were
announced last week. There's been a change in the Los Angeles book-signing
date. Instead of competing with the American Idol finale, we've moved the
LA event to May 30th at 7PM (we wanted to watch Idol anyway!). Click here
for all the book tour details. And remember to tell us if you're coming (DO
IT!), so we can make sure we have enough freebies on hand.

Book Sneak Peek! - OK, the OFFICIAL website for Hungry Girl: Recipes and
Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World is FINALLY up! It
ROCKS because you can see info on all the book's chapters, including
names, photos and nutritional info (with Weight Watchers POINTS® values*!)
for ALL the recipes! Click here for this first TRUE sneak peek at the book.

HG Emails Follow-Up - So, the other day we made a sassy comment about
how cucumbers are better than celery. This caused quite a stir, and dozens
of you wrote in trying to get to the bottom of that comment. We merely
meant that cucumbers TASTE better than celery. That's all. Sorry if we
offended any die-hard celery-chewers out there (but admit it, we're right!).
And last Wednesday, we featured a Q&A about leftover ingredients, and a
gazillion of you wrote in suggesting that people freeze small portions of
certain leftovers by placing them in ice cube trays. BRILLIANT!!!!!
Special HG Buzz Alert!!!

New Food News!

Wendy's Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad - You haven't seen this item on
the Wendy's menu since 2003, but for a limited time only (from now through
May!) the SW Chicken Caesar will be available again. The 490-calorie, 24g-
of-fat meal contains corn, black beans, chicken, and more. But if you ditch
the croutons and fatty dressing, the thing'll only contain 270 calories and 6g
fat (POINTS® value 5*) -- then use your own fat-free Caesar dressing (stash
some in the fridge) or go with Wendy's FF French. We have to admit, we
didn't realize this salad was ever gone. But we recently tried it, and it's good.
So grab one, for old times' sake...

Au Bon Pain Portions Menu - Kudos to Au Bon Pain for launching 14 delicious,
made-fresh-daily dishes that are portion-controlled and each contain 200
calories or less. The Smoked Turkey, Asparagus, Cranberry Chutney and
Gorgonzola offering (140 calories, 5g fat -- POINTS® value 3*) sure sounds
good, and so does the BBQ Chicken (170 calories, 2g fat -- POINTS® value
3*). Smaller plates + more variety = a good time for everyone. Weeeeeee!

Free Cheese... Going Green... & a Chance to Vote!

Cheese Month Surprise! - April is National Grilled Cheese Month (here's our
recipe, with turkey bacon!). So this Wednesday, April 16th, go to
iheartgrilledcheese.com and submit your favorite grilled cheese memory (if
you don't have one, make one up, and don't feel inadequate -- you're
normal). The first 1,000 people who submit stories will each receive a coupon
for a free package of Kraft Singles (use it to get the fat-free or reduced-fat
ones, though!). Good luck!

Filterforgood.com - Check it out. This site features TONS of info and deals for
ways you can reduce bottled water waste. There's even a cool kit that
features a fancy reusable water bottle, Crystal Light On The Go packets, a
Brita water filtration system coupon and more. Good stuff!

Voting Alert! - Take a quick minute to vote for our super-adorable and
talented pals, the Whatever Hollywood girls -- they're finalists in YouTube's
Sketchies II contest. They need your support, so click here to check out their
fantastic video and for the full scoop on how to vote. And hurry, 'cuz voting
ends tomorrow!
