Hungry Girl Today: 06.23.08

Spotted on Shelves...

Celestial Seasonings Cool Brew Iced Teas - Perfect for summer, these new-
and-improved tea bags brew up FANTASTIC calorie-free iced tea in
minutes... no hot water needed! Check 'em out in Blueberry Green Tea,
Raspberry Black Tea, Peach Black Tea and caffeine-free Tropical Fruit Herbal
Tea. They're a new staple at the HG HQ!

100 Calorie Packs Honey Maid Delight Bars - Even though there are new 100-
calorie items launching every minute, we're still JAZZED about these soft,
chewy bars with yummy fillings and icing drizzles. They come in two
varieties -- Chocolate and Cheesecake. Each bar has 3 - 3.5g fat and 3g
fiber (POINTS® value 2*). They're really good -- especially the Chocolate
ones!

Jell-O Pudding Singles in Sugar Free - These are FINALLY popping up in
stores! If you have a thing for convenient, single-serving stuff, grab a box of
these pudding mix packets! In Vanilla and Chocolate, these sugar-free
versions have 70 - 80 calories and no fat (POINTS® value 1 - 2*) when
prepared with skim milk. (The Vanilla one has the lower stats.) Now you can
easily have sugar-free pudding for one... FAST. (Um, not quite as fast as
grabbing a pre-packaged Jell-O SF pudding snack cup from the fridge, but
still pretty fast...)

Progresso Light ALERT!!!!

This is big, people! Last year we broke the news about Progresso Light Soups
(you know, the ones endorsed by Weight Watchers with a POINTS® value of
0 per serving!). Well, this year we're THRILLED to announce that our close
personal pals over at Progresso are launching NINE new Light Soup options...
AHHHHHH!!!! Here's the soup scoop.

Proteined-Up P. Light! FOUR new varieties with meat -- Chicken Noodle,
Chicken Vegetable Rotini, Beef Pot Roast, and Santa Fe Style Chicken --
each with a POINTS® value of 1 and only 70 - 80 calories and 0.5 - 1.5g fat
per 1-cup serving.

P. Light Goes Portable! THREE of their popular Light flavors in portable
microwavable bowls -- Italian-Style Vegetable, Homestyle Vegetable and
Rice, and Vegetable and Noodle -- each with 100 calories, less than a gram
of fat, and a POINTS® value of 1 for the whole thing (about 2 cups).

P. Light with Less Salt! TWO Reduced Sodium options with MUCH lower
sodium stats (460 - 470mg per serving) -- Roasted Chicken & Vegetable with
a POINTS® value of 1 (yeah, this one has meat, so technically there are
FIVE new protein-packed flavors!) and Vegetable with a POINTS® value of 0
(making it the 2nd vegetarian option in the entire line). Those each have 60 -
70 calories and 0 - 1g fat per 1-cup serving.

Sodium-counters will also be happy to know that the original five Progresso
Light Soups will have 25% less sodium than they originally contained. Look
for the new offerings to hit store shelves starting in late July. And remember,
it's NEVER too hot out to enjoy soup -- BECAUSE SOUP ROCKS (especially
when it's light and delicious)!!!
Keeping You in the Soup Loop!

HG's HALF-A-MILLION Contest!!!!!

PINCH US! Even WE have a hard time believing this is true, but Hungry Girl is
fast approaching the 500,000 subscriber mark. That means we will soon have
HALF A MILLION subscribers to our daily emails!!! THIS IS HUGE (remember,
we had less than 200 subscribers when we launched back in April of 2004)!
To help celebrate this insanely exciting time, and also to encourage YOU, our
loyal readers, to spread the word about HG, we're giving away some
delicious and fun prizes. Our 500,000th subscriber AND the person who tells
them about Hungry Girl will EACH win an entire year's supply of Vitalicious
VitaTops. All you need to do is have your pals, coworkers, neighbors, etc.
sign up for our daily emails and enter YOUR email address in the "How did
you hear about Hungry Girl?" section. If one of those people is our 500,000th
subscriber, you and that friend will EACH win free VitaTops for 12 months!
THIS IS EXTREMELY EXCITING! We're also giving away awesome HG goodies
(like T-shirts, tote bags, hats and more!) to 20 more people at random. So
start telling everyone you know to sign up for HG NOW, and make sure they
put your email address in the "How did you hear..." section. And in unrelated
yet equally exciting HG news, keep an eye out for the new Fiber One cereal
boxes (all FOUR flavors!) featuring our "Lord of the Onion Rings" recipe on
the back. Weeeee!

The Buzz...

Cool news, from the world of cereal! Kellogg's is reformulating and "healthing
up" many of their classic cereals (like Froot Loops, Corn Pops, and Apple
Jacks). The new versions (hitting shelves any day now!) all contain 12g of
sugar or less per serving, and some have fewer calories and/or less sodium
than before. The peeps at Kellogg's say the new versions will taste just as
good as the originals. And speaking of cereal, check out this FREE
MULTIGRAIN CHEERIOS SAMPLE offer... Woohoo! ***Japanese-owned
Otsuka Pharmaceuticals is trying harder than ever to make Americans love
SOYJOY bars. Despite the addition of new flavors, CRAZY-CUTE commercials
and super-clever ad campaigns, these bars, um, still taste HORRIBLE. Listen
up, SOYJOY makers -- if you want us to eat these things, THE BARS NEED TO
TASTE BETTER (it's not really all that complicated)! ***Speaking of weird
things coming out of Japan, did you know there's a new national law there
that requires companies and local governments to measure the waistlines of
people between the ages of 40 and 74 at their annual physicals? Oversized
people with weight-related ailments will be counseled if they don't
drop weight within 3 months, and the government will eventually impose
financial penalties on companies and local governments that fail to meet
specific targets. BIZARRO, but they're trying to tackle obesity there. (Pssst...
Hey, Japan -- if you want to solve the obesity problem, try feeding everyone
over there SOYJOY bars instead.) ***Apparently creating cute videos about
foods you love could result in getting LOTS of free stuff! Our girlie-pals over
at WhateverHollywood.com found that out when they put together a little
video featuring a song for their favorite crunchy snacks, Popchips. Click here
to check out this catchy little ditty. That's all we've got. HG out!
Sayin' Bye Bye to Excess Sugar and Salt!
