Hungry Girl Today: 09.15.08

Spotted on Shelves...

Rubicon Bakery CocoaBerries in Strawberry and Blueberry - Tired of the
same old boring meringues? Check these things out. They're mini meringue
cookies (made with real freeze-dried fruit!) that have been COVERED in
delicious dark chocolate. AHHHHHHH, SOOOO GOOOOD!!! You can have five
of 'em for 90 calories, 4.5 - 5g fat, 14g carbs, 1g fiber, and 1 - 2g protein
(POINTS® value 2*).

Genisoy Light & Crispy Multigrain Sweet Crisps in Chocolate and Cinnamon
Streusel - Oh, baby! These are like giant, overgrown versions of Quaker Mini
Delights. Yum! Chew ten of these for 90 calories, 3 - 3.5g fat, 12g carbs, 1g
fiber, and 3g protein (POINTS® value 2*). The cinnamon ones are
particularly delicious, BTW.

Pure Bars in Apple Cinnamon, Cherry Cashew, Chocolate Brownie, and Wild
Blueberry - If you like the raw, natural goodness of bars like Larabars, check
these out. There are a few other flavors, but these are the only ones we've
seen (and eaten!). Each of them contains 190 - 200 calories, 8 - 9g fat, 25 -
26g carbs, 4 - 5g fiber, and 5 - 6g protein (POINTS® value 4*). The Apple
Cinnamon bars blow the others out of the water, but they're all pretty good
(Chocolate Brownie being our least favorite).

Sheryl Crow + Yoplait = FREE CONCERT FUN!!!

For ten whole years, Yoplait has been running Save Lids to Save Lives, the
company's "pink lids" initiative that has raised over 19 million dollars to fight
breast cancer. To celebrate this AWESOME accomplishment, the fine yogurt
folks over there are putting together a TOTALLY FREE Sheryl Crow concert in
Los Angeles on Friday, October 10th, 2008. YAY, YOPLAIT! Tickets are going
FAST, so call 1-877-MY-TEN-LIDS (ASAP!) to reserve yours. In case they are
all gone by the time you call, here's some good news. Our close, personal
pals over at Yoplait have set aside ten extra pairs of tickets for us, so we're
giving 'em away to HG subscribers. If you WIN, you and your guest each
NEED to show up with ten pink Yoplait lids in order to get in to see the show
(but don't eat that yogurt all at once). The HG staff will be there, so if you
can be in LA on October 10th and want to party with Sheryl Crow and the HG
gang, click here and tell us why (in 50 words or less). Winners will be
selected at random, but try to be creative anyway, K? Click here for the full
411. And if you're looking for other ways to celebrate the joys of fat-free
yogurt, click here for our kooky HG Video Short about Yoplait Light's brand-
new cake flavors. Weeeeee!

MORE Soup Scoop...

Just when you thought we're anti-Campbell's (sorry we dissed the taste of
your new light soups last week, C -- hope we're still friends), we are here to
tell you all about a new soup line from Campbell's that we have VERY high
hopes for. Campbell's V8 Soups are pureed veggie soups that provide a full
serving of vegetables in every bowl and have no artificial flavors or
preservatives -- but the REAL reason we're excited about these soups is
because they're basically updated versions of the Select Gold Label ones
(those are Mmm Mmm GONE). Check out the five flavors these NEW soups
come in -- Golden Butternut Squash, Garden Broccoli, Tomato Herb,
Southwestern Corn, and Sweet Red Pepper. We were fans of the Select Gold
line, and we're sad to see it go -- but this new line will likely fill the void. The
stats are great, too -- 1 cup has 80 - 150 calories, 0 - 3g fat, 15 - 28g carbs,
2 - 4g fiber, and 3g protein (POINTS® value 1 - 3*). Anyone tried 'em? Don't
be shy -- let us know what you think...

The Buzz...

Think you've got the moves (as in dance moves) to make it to TV? Show
your stuff on camera (YOUR video camera), and then send your video to
Regis and Kelly. They're collaborating with our BFFs over at Quaker on an
initiative that'll promote heart health AND give you a chance to win money
and see yourself DANCING ON TV. Dance your fingers on over to this link,
and click on it for the 411, peeps! ***A recent survey found that nearly nine
out of ten NYers are pleased with the new law that forces chain restaurants
to post calorie counts on their menus. They say it helps them "make better
choices when dining out." Yee-haa! Looks like everyone is starting to pay
attention. Let's hope more restaurants start making their nutritional info
readily available soon (hear that, Cheesecake Factory?!). ***Wanna be the
first person on the block to own the latest (and tiniest!) device for tracking
calories, exercise, and even sleep? Check out FitBit! It uses motion-sensing
technology and displays a character of your choice that shows your progress
(if you're a flower and then you pig out, you'll shrivel -- exercise, and your
petals will bloom!). It's not officially available until around New Year's, but
you can pre-order the l'il guy now. That's all we've got. HG out!

CHEW ON THIS:
September 15th (aka TODAY) is National Linguini Day! Since linguini is
basically flat spaghetti, we say you should celebrate with some spaghetti-
shaped or fettuccine-style Tofu Shirataki! Click here for some ideas.

Time to share the HG wealth. Click "send to a friend" NOW!!!!
