Hungry Girl Today: 1.05.09

Happy 2009, Hungry People! To help celebrate the excitement of the New

Year (and it IS exciting!), we've got a SLEW of new finds to share with you...

ENJOY!

New Flavor! Fiber One Chewy Bars in Chocolate Mocha

PER SERVING (1 bar): 140 calories, 4g fat, 90mg sodium, 29g carbs, 9g

fiber, 10g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

Oooh, everyone's favorite fibered-up chewy bar now comes in a new flavor.

This one's got a rich coffee-ish taste (but it's not TOO strong). And just like

the other bars in F1's line-up, it's gooey, decadent and delicious. Look for it

on shelves this month. Woohoo!

Weight Watchers Endorsed! Jolly Time Healthy Pop Microwave Pop Corn

PER SERVING (2 tbsp. unpopped, makes 4 - 5 cups popped): 90 - 100

calories, 2g fat, 95 - 280mg sodium, 23g carbs, 7 - 9g fiber, <1g sugars, 3 -

4g protein -- POINTS® value 1

These nukeable, 94% fat-free popcorn bags are the latest products to land

the Double W's seal of approval. Look for Kettle Corn, Butter, Caramel

Apple, Low Sodium 100 Calorie Butter, 100 Calorie Butter, and 100 Calorie

Kettle Corn, all with an official POINTS® value of 1 per serving. BTW, our

favorite is the Caramel Apple -- we hope to see it on more store shelves this

year, 'cuz it's been a tad hard to locate in the past.

FiberGourmet Light Penne and Light Rotini

PER SERVING (2 oz. uncooked): 130 calories, 1g fat, 120mg sodium, 42g

carbs, 18g fiber, 2g sugars, 7g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

Okay, wow. The FiberGourmet folks have really hit it out of the park with

their new light pastas. (Their short-cut fettuccine rocks, too!) They taste

pretty much exactly like regular pasta, but have 40% fewer calories and

more than 70% the DV of fiber. And they come in beauteous boxes, unlike

their mac 'n cheese boxes, which are less than attractive. (Sorry! Great

product though.)

New Flavors! Aquafina FlavorSplash in Peach Mango, Lemon, and Strawberry

Kiwi

PER SERVING (8 fl. oz.): 0 calories, 0g fat, 65mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber,

0g sugars, 0g protein -- POINTS® value 0*

We don't fall in love with flavored waters often, but we got a sneak sip of

these, and they are seriously good. They're perfectly fruity without being

grossly sweet or artificial-tasting. Score! All three flavors are refreshing and

all-around awesome. They won't officially hit stores 'til February, but once

they do, STOCK UP!

Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat

PER SERVING (1 cup): 200 calories, 1g fat, 0mg sodium, 49g carbs, 8g fiber,

12g sugars, 5g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

Yay, another cereal to love from F1. This one's like Frosted Mini-Wheats that

have been infused with loads of fiber -- and it is DEEEE-LICIOUS! Look for

the pretty blue box next to the other cereals from our Fiber One friends.

New Flavor! Kettle Brand Baked Potato Chips in Sea Salt & Vinegar

PER SERVING (1 oz., about 23 chips): 120 calories, 3g fat, 170mg sodium,

21g carbs, 2g fiber, 0g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

If you haven't crunched on a Kettle Baked chip lately (or ever), now is the

time. These things are nearly perfect potato chips that don't taste the least

bit diet-y. This new flavor is great, but for true vinegar-enthusiasts only. If

you don't enjoy the slightly tangy taste, check out the other chips in this line.

They're all great. REALLY great.

0 Cal Naturally Sweetened SoBe Lifewater in Fuji Apple Pear, Black and Blue

Berry, and Yumberry Pomegranate

PER SERVING (8 oz.): 0 calories, 0g fat, 20mg sodium, 0g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g

sugars, 0g protein -- POINTS® value 0*

The underground herb stevia has finally hit the mainstream, and these

new "vitamin-enhanced water beverages" are sweetened with it. We're still

skeptical of the taste the zero-cal sweetener will deliver, but we're way

excited to try SoBe's new flavors. Fuji Apple Pear?! Sign us up!

The Buzz...

Just a few more things to chew (and read!)...

Kentucky Grilled Chicken?!? That's right! First KFC went trans fat free, and

now the colonel's health-ing it up by offering his signature chicken grilled.

After test-marketing over the last couple of years, the company's gearing up

for a full rollout in 2009. Fingers crossed that low-fat biscuits and mashies

are next! ***Here's a fun and inspirational read to kick off the New Year. In

The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl, author Shauna Reid shares her story,

diary-style, of shedding HALF her weight. It's honest, funny, and really

relatable. Check it out. ***The Einstein Noah company -- home of Noah's

Bagels, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Manhattan Bagel, Chesapeake Bagel Bakery

and New World Coffee brands -- is rolling out a line of handheld

breakfast "wedges" this year with less than 400 calories each. The first one

will consist of egg whites, turkey sausage, spinach, and mushrooms in a

cone-shaped tortilla. YUM! Here's hoping these wedges are LARGE and low in

fat, too! That's all we've got. HG out!
